I recently contacted theHGV resale department in hopes they would just take our timeshare back. It's paid off, 5600 points annually, and up to date on its maintenance fee. Has anyone had any experience with them? I wanted to try them first to get out of this timeshare.

In cases like this, we usually recommend first contacting the resort's Homeowners' Association and to do so in writing. That is, of course, if HGV does not have a company-wide deedback program like Wyndham, Diamond, or Westgate does.

HGVC is a good company once you are in (excluding the sales folks - but after).

I would suggest going to the HGVC forum here on this BBS and ask advice on what it is worth - you need to include what you own - where, the season, what size (#BR), and maint fees. 5600 does sound to me like a silver season 2br - so it may not be easy to give away but worth a try - it all depends on the MFs and where you own.

Most folks on TUG are very helpful and there is a wealth of knowledge in the subforums where you will talk to other HGVC owners.

Good luck.

HGVC has a very selective deedback program, in such they will usually take back ownerships that have resale value!

if yours turns out to be one of those, assuming you are working directly with HGVC vs a random 3rd party, it should be a very easy process.

if they say no, be sure to list your timeshare up in the free giveaway section, perhaps someone here would like to take 5600 points off your hands depending on the details of your ownership!

Hello Brian,

A few follow up questions:
Does HGVC require the timeshare to be paid in full to be considered?
To whom do I contact to begin the process?
