Four plus a 2 1/2 year old are going to Frenchman's Cove (St. Thomas) in December. Any suggestions on which building, villa numbers and etc. we should request? Thanks.

I like Tortola but it really depends on what your preferences are. Some folks complain about the elevators but once you take them you are at the pool. There's no trudging 100 yards to the pool, restaurant, beach or gym with a 2 year old. All rooms face the water. Most of the rooms in Tortola can't view the pool area from the balcony which is why I like it. All the other buildings overlook the pool/beach and out into the water.

The good news is that because Frenchman's Cove is located on a hillside, all of the buildings have good views - particularly from the higher floors. The resort isn't that big but there is a lot of up and down for which you can take elevators, stairs, and/or the slope of the roads.

But unlike some other MVC resorts there is no one building that is best - it's a question of personal preference. Do you most want to be closer to Pacquereau bay, the pool, the main building taxis and shuttle bus, the dining of Frenchman's Reef (at the adjacent Westin/Buoy Haus), or have a view of Charlotte Amalie?

Thanks folks. Very helpful.
We stayed in the Jost Van Dyke Building top floor…great views of the Cruise ships passing by and very nice views of Charlotte Amalie.

We also stayed in the Jost Van Dyke building. Even from the third floor the views were great. And easy to get to the pool.

We have been 4 times now and always request the St John building and a high floor. The view is spectacular and we enjoy it whenever we are indoors. We don’t mind the 3 elevators to get to the pool since it doesn’t take long at all.

with small kids they want to go back and forth from room/beach/pool multiple times a day....id prefer a lower building!

Outside of 45 days you would post a want ad here:

Within 45 days you would post a request here:

They frown upon making requests in discussion threads.

Can anyone who has been to Frenchman's Cove recently comment on how the WiFi is in the units?
TIA.

How many buildings are there ?
Thinking of going but pic on MVC website makes it look huge.

We stayed in Tortola building and really liked its location.
The resort is relatively compact, but built on a steep hillside, so there can be a lot of climbing or lift usage.
We enjoyed a very good open aspect view over the ocean.

Is there a building with better wifi? I may have to be on some video calls. I'm visiting in 2 weeks. Thanks !

The WiFi was fine in Virgin Gorda a few years ago…but we weren’t trying to do video conferencing.

If nothing else, if the WiFi in your villa isn’t up to snuff you could wander up to Crown and see if it’s better in the main building.
