What's this? "Ask TUG!"

BTW, it mostly covers up the jump to top of page button.

How to block this thing
its only displayed for people who are logged in at the moment, i may wind up turning it off for tug members if enough people find it intrusive or annoying etc. the goal is to make TUG more easy to navigate and find correct info for folks who find us!

just fair warning, the chats are all logged...and i do plan on posting some of the more interesting/legitimate ones.

Well this thing is worthless. :ROFLMAO: Isn't anything Brian timeshare related?

I don’t see anti-salesperson on my page.

Never mind, found it. It looks like a chat box.

I asked a couple of questions and was impressed with the answers.

I don’t mind the option and see its benefit. I just don’t like the location as it is covering something I use all the time in desktop browser. Though I suppose lower right is where these things tend to be.

ive not identified a way to move the location of the chatbot itself, but ill keep looking.

it appears many members are testing its functionality which is great! the legitimate requests for stuff are still very impressive given I have provided absolutely zero input sofar other than having it crawl a few of the main pages. I dont think its realistically possible for it to crawl everything on the forum...or the "cost" of doing so would be extremely cost prohibitive to store 30 gigs worth of data in an ai.

the current model is limited to 10megs and the few dozen pages I fed it sofar have taken up 8 of that.

Which chatbot are you using?

this one is chatbase...its currently using chatgpt...though they offer the ability to select from all the different ais available today (claude/gemini/grok/etc).

the different versions and complexities cost different "credits" per chat

Good to know. I've used chatbots over the last year for various projects and have generally been unhappy with the results. I've started creating a functional spec for building my own. Most sites use them incorrectly.

ive been fascinated at the combination of easy setup, and results sofar, though admittedly this rollout is about as easy as it gets as its simply directing people to various pages/articles/sections of tug based on the pages ive fed it...but that was the entire goal sofar. While the abilities and features offered FAR exceed that, but i also notice im approaching the "memory limit" just doing this basic stuff so I have to imagine any regular company trying to roll something out like this would require a much more expensive version of this.

I will say its absolutely fascinating to see some of the questions, and while the answers arent perfect...im not sure thats a reasonable expectation! They are REALLY REALLY good for having no input at all from me for the most part, and when I go in and revise some answers (which is truly my favorite part of this)...im not really making any significant changes other than putting different links in vs what it guessed was the correct one!

as an example one chat asked about massanutten, and the request didnt really specify rental or resale...while it gave the correct link to the marketplace to look stuff up (which impressed the heck out of me, as ive not fed the entire marketplace into it yet)...it provided a few other links that werent what I would have chosen myself in a reply...but it takes all of 60 seconds to update that so that future replies learn and respond more accurately.

we are in a totally different world thats for sure.

take this for example, which is WILD to me. I promise you I have not altered this response nor prompted it in any way shape or form.

While im sure i could tweak it(and probably will), i think anyone legitimately asking this question after finding TUG would be more than satisfied with the answer:

im almost afraid to feed some of these replies into ai to improve them... might create a singularity and wipe us all out!

Can it digest that long post about resort closings on the Wyndham forum?
