Forget Max, new new thing is Trust Points

Definitely am initialism. HVC (pronounced “havoc”) and HCNY (pronounced “hackney”) are acronyms. IMHO bHC is an initialism, though some might go with “butch”.
I do them as initialisms and had not heard those acronyms before. But those definitely could be done :)

Cheers.

Well, we could go with “hogvac” if we really wanted an acronym for that one, too.

If you can pronounce HGVC as a word, rather than a set of letters, more power to you. Not sure that most people pronounce this as a word, though.
Without Vanna, this one is beyond me... :)

Cheers.
You've obviously never spoken Polish!

Just did an update at Elara. Apparently they are pushing people to give up their deeds and just have “trust points.” I walked to the bathroom and heard “trustpoints” about a dozen times as I passed the tables. This feels ominous to me especially since a couple weeks ago guest services passed me on to corporate when I tried to give Redweek permission to confirm my home week and I got quite a tongue lashing for attempting to rent my home week which I read the fine print and it is not against their rules. I’m guessing they are moving everyone to points with carrots and sticks so the home week loop hole will be eliminated. I could be wrong. Also want to note regarding pool at Elara had not a scrap of free shade all day. I had to rent a cabana for $50. Would have been $300 if I weren’t an owner there. Even tables with umbrellas had to be rented. They also close it at 8pm due to Nevada law requiring more lighting. My husband replied hilariously “Im going to write a letter to Hilton that Elara isn’t lighting their pool area enough!” First time I got to use the pool since it’s always closed when we travel there due to the season. Bless their heart at least they do cool it so it was refreshing in the 110 degree heat.
My latest tour, the rep claimed that if bought into MAX 5000 points would get me 125,000 Hilton Honors points and with that I could stay at The Waldorf Astoria for 25 nights. OMG.

Obviously the rep was lying. You can't even stay at the cheapest, oldest, and crappiest Hilton chain hotel for 25 nights at 125k HH points. Most stays are, at least, 25k/night but the Waldorf is much more.

Most of the Waldorf Astorias start out around 80K-110K HH points.

I spent 80k points for a night at the Waldorf in Vegas earlier this year because our flight was canceled.

Note: Delta won't reimburse for hotel stays using HHonors points.

The salesperson was probably using "timeshare math". You see, with a timeshare you own it forever, so if you get 125,000 Honors points each year, and Honors points don't expire, in 20-30 years you could save up enough Honors points to stay at the Waldorf for 25 nights.

So the salesperson wasn't necessarily lying, just thinking outside the box. We obviously don't give the salespeople enough credit around here.

... and the ratio he gave for converting to HH points, 25:1, is close to the average between the 16:1 for converting next years HGVC points and the 32:1 for converting next years bHC points. Smack dab in the middle of the ball park estimate we should all expect. The only thing that would seal it would be if he had written the numbers upside down on a sheet of paper in front of us.

I need to bring @Eric B and @PigsDad along to my next owner's update so that they can explain Salesperson logic. I just don't seem to understand. The last Salesperson tried to tell me that the 32K bonus points were worth $32K. I still didn't understand that TS math.

LOL! $1 a point! The TS math means a sale is more money in their pocket.

Was it just one-time bonus points, or was he assuming you’d get that many every year by continuing to upgrade…?

If the rep didn't specifically say that you will get 25 nights using only HH pts then the rep didn't lie because you can pay with a combination of points and money ($$$) in increment of 1,000 pts (5,000 pts minimum).
If you use the minimum of 5,000 HH pts each night stay then with 125,000 HH, you can use them to stay at a Waldorf hotel for 25 nights but just to reduce the cost of each night and not to get each night free.

I found the Hilton Garden Inn Tuxtla Gutierrez in Mexico and the Hampton by Hilton Yopal in Colombia where you can stay one night for 5,000 HH only and $0.
So yes you can get 25 nights at 5,000 HH each and $0 somewhere on the planet in the cheapest Hilton chain hotel.

Fair enough. I have never seen nights that low and in the post was implied that was for all points not points and cash but, you are right so just not in the US.

I stayed at the Waldorf in Key West and it was a moldy, stinky old beat up room with a tiny beat up elevator and grumpy housekeeping where our towels were literally left in a pile unfolded. So surreal. Very old resort. Stay away.

At our Maui presentation the rep claimed that there are no new HGVC properties being built, Maui is the last chance to own a deeded property in the HGVC franchise - after that you will go to Trust ownership. I called BS - why then is Waikoloa closing off 9 holes of the Kings course for new development of condos for Kingsland? He gave that 1000 yard stare, meeting ended, back to the pool.

Well, not really sure. But your second half could be a possibility. After I called him on the carpet for that TS math, the update was over. It was going downhill before that, so he was just trying to throw out a hail-mary.

I grew up on farm in Nebraska....baling hay outside is a lot of physical work and great practice for the 10 year olds to drive the tractor and pull the wagon but the worst part was putting into the barn. If you are the one stuck with being in the barn stacking, it is miserable. Very hot, no air movement, and the air is filled with hay debris. You are a sweaty, sticky mess with hay stuck everywhere on you. Also, about as bad is working in a corn silo or even being the one stuck holding down piglets as they get snipped. My kids have no idea.....city kids...who grew up staying in HGV resorts....:)
How about waking up the next morning and your eyes are glued shut with hay dust gunk?

I lasted one week bailing hay one summer.

Or blowing your nose and all the gunk comes out...

There are many holes to that info. They have resold previously owned weeks as retail at properties that have been sold out for years for a long time. I doubt they will stop anytime soon. Plus the resale market will keep chugging along.

The other thing I would note is that it's a slippery slope to go renaming these things. The ClubPoints used at The Hilton Club could wind up getting called THC points....
I don’t think they could go with naming it THC points. That would have to be a new mini-club with locations including Whistler, Colorado and Vegas. ;)

Are there any Hilton branded hotels in the US that are 5000 HH points a night? 125000 HH points do not get you even one night at some resorts.
