I just noticed today that the title for The District and the other bHC resorts have changed from being "by Hilton Club" to "a Hilton Club" or "Hilton Club". HGVC is still using the phrase "by Hilton Club" in the reservation windows, which matches the usage in the rules, but it makes me wonder...

Not sure I agree. Having owned HCNY, sold it back to HGVC and then bought W. 57th resale, I'd say that HCNY is on a par with W. 57th, maybe a half step below due to the elevators and crowds. Certainly not an upper level, though.

Just to add, I have stayed at some new Hampton Inns that are nicer than some Hiltons and even some Conrads that I have stayed at....Heck, the Hilton in Nairobi, that is now shut down, wasn't even on the approved Embassy list....so yes, they are supposed to be more luxurious and you pay for it, but in reality, they may not be nicer than some "less luxurious" properties.

bHC is still very clear to all here in terms of what we're talking about. Frankly, the initialism "HC" is less clear given all the other terms. I'm gonna stick with bHC for clarity. HGVC can do what they want with naming.

I have stacked my share of hay in my day so anything is better than that. Which by the way, if folks have never stacked hay in a barn in summer, I would highly encourage it for weight loss and clogged sinuses....

I have stacked my share of hay in my day so anything is better than that. Which by the way, if folks have never stacked hay in a barn in summer, I would highly encourage it for weight loss and clogged sinuses....

I just finished helping a small winery bottle 75 cases of Cabernet. My part was to tape up the filled cases and run them down to the cellar, among other things I helped with. This was split with me and another guy. My phone says I did 36 floors today. And I like wine better than hay...and our helper gift was a bottle after a lunch featuring the same wine.

HVC and HC seem too much the same to me. The lowercase 'b' adds clarity for me. I get that they have changed it, but I go for clarity and I think everyone who reads here regularly understands bHC. And anyone new will need all of this alphabet soup explained anyway

As long as we all understand what we're talking about (and bHC has no ambiguity), that's what matters.

Then again, my username is all lowercase, so it may be a bias

When we lived in Africa (Liberia), Liberian women and it was always the women, who didn't have running water at home would walk to the central pump, fill a 5 gallon container with water, put it on their heads, and then walk it back home. This water was used for drinking, cooking, baths, etc. so maybe multiple trips in a day. Very tiring work. We lived on the Embassy compound and on the 4th floor of the building and my wife would comment about not getting enough exercise so I would suggest that she haul 5 gallon containers of water from the local pump to our unit.....you know, to build stamina and core strength.... it did not go over well.....

The only people that can book using points are those that own there while they can use their points at any HGVC or bHC property. So, when you use HC, are you talking about the property or the grouping of properties that go by Hilton Club.

No. Sunterra never added Sedona property to the HI Collection.

DRI acquired Sunterra in 2007 (this is one of many links about the acquisition https://www.reviewjournal.com/business/diamond-resorts-closes-sunterra-deal/).

Sedona and Las Vegas properties were added to the HI Collection in 2008.

From the 2007 HI Collection financial document, https://owners.diamondresorts.com/webui/doc_load_from_store?pvFileName=20090508Diamond Resorts Hawaii Collection 2007.pdf, there were only 2 resorts in the HI Collection on December 31, 2007.

From the 2008 HI Collection financial document, https://owners.diamondresorts.com/webui/doc_load_from_store?pvFileName=20090917Hawaii Collection 2008 Audit.pdf, on December 31, 2008 there were 4 resorts in the HI Collection (the 2 Hawaii original + the 2 mainland resorts).

Thanks for the correction. I was going on memory; I knew the Sedona add was close in time to the DRI acquisition.

BTW - this gets at one of the reasons should be aware of about the Hawaii collection.

Sedona was added to the Collection because the Maui and Kauai properties were sold out. Adding Sedona allowed them to have more points to sell in the Hawaii collection, telling people that the best way to get to Hawaii was via the trust with the 13-month home resort advantage. Of course, adding other resorts to the Hawaii Collection means more demand for Hawaii resorts even inside the Hawaii collection, and almost shrinks the inventory that becomes available to Club members at the 10-month window.

Grew up on a farm in MN, and baled hay in sunny, 90 degree weather, 80% humidity, wearing jeans and long sleeved shirts (otherwise your arms/legs were destroyed). Best workout ever -- throwing hundreds of 50-70 lb bales over your head every day, and three cuttings (sometimes four) in a given summer. When it came to late summer / fall and we were baling straw, boy was that a breeze! (For those that don't know, straw is much, much lighter than hay so it was like throwing air compared to hay bales!)

I grew up on farm in Nebraska....baling hay outside is a lot of physical work and great practice for the 10 year olds to drive the tractor and pull the wagon but the worst part was putting into the barn. If you are the one stuck with being in the barn stacking, it is miserable. Very hot, no air movement, and the air is filled with hay debris. You are a sweaty, sticky mess with hay stuck everywhere on you. Also, about as bad is working in a corn silo or even being the one stuck holding down piglets as they get snipped. My kids have no idea.....city kids...who grew up staying in HGV resorts....

I learned this at the age of about 60. To me, they were all acronyms. Then a great boss I had at a job said "initialism" and I asked what that was. Then I learned. Minutiae to be sure, but paying it forward anyway

If we ever coincide on a timeshare stay, we can meet for that beer.

Definitely an initialism. HVC (pronounced “havoc”) and HCNY (pronounced “hackney”) are acronyms. IMHO bHC is an initialism, though some might go with “butch”.
