For people that do this please respond with why! [Resort luggage carts and parking]

When you travel by car, you travel differently. At least we do.
Big Time! For our annual summer Vail 2 weeks with paddleboards, skateboards, beach tent in addition to regular luggage...often its a #3LuggageCart scenario

Without a doubt! I just got one of those hitch cargo carriers for my SUV for just this purpose!! Somewhere for beach chairs and toys and a cooler, etc, etc, etc. Instead of trying to stuff all that in the car along with luggage.

@jwalk03 Yep the peeps on this thread complaining about SUV's...must not engage in family or much recreational travel is all I'm sayin'

Cliff calls us the “Sultan’s Caravan” when we go by car. We can go four weeks by air with a roll aboard and personal item, but I make no effort whatsoever to pack frugally for a car trip.

Solution: QR code scanning that attaches the cart to your room. Then some kind of homing beacon alarm on the luggage carts that start screeching if it isn't returned to the general lobby area within a set period of time. When the cart is left abandoned somewhere the alarm in your unit starts blaring as well. Assigned parking spaces for each unit. That way when I have a 2BR LO I get two spaces and can park in the middle of the two. (With my luck the spaces wouldn't be adjacent.)

I'm a problem solver;)

Another problem I have with luggage carts is more of a resort problem, they are simply broken or in disrepair. The ones at Sheraton Vistana Villages have to be the worst. You think they are going to come apart while wheeling them around and down the halls. Some are also just plain gross. You would think the resort could clean them every once in a while.

Time luggage cart usage like a video game and if you beat the clock you get reserved pool lounge chairs

I notice we have had few to no violators admit to their transgressions or attempt to offer a reasonable excuse.

Given the shaming they’re receiving in absentia, I have no doubt why. And in my view there are no reasonable excuses.

Full disclosure: I always return my carts to the return area.

My daughter says that returning a grocery cart is the ultimate test of your moral character, so there is that :)
I agree with your daughter LOL. That and my ability to tell just about everything I need to know about a person by how they stack the dishwasher.

Seriously though, my mom taught me well I suppose, with three basic rules when it comes to this topic:

1. Put things back where you found them
2. Leave things the way you found them
3. Everything in this life has it's place

Basically, if you always put things in the same place (where they belong), there's never a mystery about where those things are when you need them. Order vs chaos type thing. It amazes me watching people endlessly misplace their phones, keys, wallets, etc. No one is perfect and we all have our weak and forgetful moments - as I age they seem to happen more frequently LOL - but everything having it's place drastically cuts down on spending lots of collective time endlessly searching for things we use almost every day of our lives - and especially for those things that we don't use often - that's why we have label makers.

I'm a Wyndham owner (looking at adding Marriott though), we just came back from Towers on the Grove in North Myrtle Beach for a 10 day vacation - which has it's own dedicated nine floor parking garage. Someone in a Dodge Challenger took the cake this trip by diagonally parking across, count em now, three parking spots. Guess he thought he was special. I drive a RAM 1500 full size truck - and I always carry heavy duty towing straps and chains in my ramboxes. I'm tempted at times like this to break out the tow straps and "help" guys like this to straighten out their parking problems (just kidding of course - welllll - sorta?).

I do often see luggage carts left in the hallways and/or by the elevators at various resorts. Bugs me given the rules listed above - but to each his own as they say.

Add some duct tape to cover the cameras and break out the tow straps!! I didn't see nuthin'.

Unless that person is like my husband. He places things where he thinks they should belong, not where or how he found them. Then the next time he puts it away, he decides that it should go back to where it should belong, except that this time it is a different place from where he previously believed it belonged. The biggest problem is that he usually empties out the dishwasher. So poor me, the cook at home, is always looking for utensils in the drawers. Sometimes, he opens up a drawer, he would say "Why did you put it here, it does not belong here?" No, dear, you placed it there and he would argue that I placed it there and not him. Now I know to never argue because I can never win.

I'm on vacation I'll act selfish to ensure my best life. Others spend their time whimpering and whining.

Using 2 parking spots ensures no one dents my rental car.

Usually i keep the luggage cart inside my suite so that it's handy for checkout.

We put towels on 3 pool loungers so we have 1 for our snacks and drinks.

We just leave the drink and snack garbage under the pool chairs as we don't recycle at home so why do it on vacation. Anyway they have staff to clean up.

We drink in the pool, i mean anything spills gets filtered by the pool thingy.

In the hot tub i'll tell my wife I'm hoping this morning's diarreha is gone to get us some privacy.

Once home from the pool we usually drunk dial other rooms to say " Hi same time tonight when your spouse is asleep" oh it's so much fun.

Most days we park in the no loading zone by the resort front doors for convenience.
I assume this is in jest but unfortunately it's not far off from some people.

Once saw in a local Parking Lot. Person with an expensive Sports Car parked it right over the line between 2 Parking spots. 2 folks parked their pickup trucks so close on each side so that no Door could be opened on the Sports Car.

Seen people key them and be the "cart demon" as well for such situations.

Saw on social media that some people are carrying zip ties and will zip tie a grocery cart to the door handle of cars that do this :) Thought is was a thoughtful way to get the message across without causing any damage.

It’s been years since we’ve actually stayed at our home resort of OceanWatch but, we noticed early on that all the carts had the small wheels and when loaded up they were almost impossible for me and my wife to push or pull them to the elevators! The hallways were covered in plush carpeting and they would just sink down in it. They eventually started switching out to the bigger wheels which made it easier but by then we had gotten used to driving up to checkin and letting them know we needed help unloading. Somebody would come out and load everything on a cart for us and take it to our room and unload it for us and take the cart with them. It was well worth the tip for this service.

So, we check into Marriott Myrtle Beach and there are no luggage carts available. We take are luggage to our room and alas, there is a cart outside two different rooms.

We go to park our car and get the top floor, as all spots were occupied, and someone parked right in the middle of two spots.

My questions is if you are the kind of person that does this pleased explain why you think you are privileged?

Really would love to discuss
This always happens to us on check in day at our Pinestead Reef TS in Traverse City, MI. No luggage carts to be found, all up on the 2nd and 3rd floor, so I just always run an grab one and bring it down before check in and I'm good. This TS has mostly owners in their late 70"s, 80"s and 90"s Our oldest owner passed away last year at 97 and owned a boatload of units

You all need to visit Mountainside during ski season. Entire underground lot is full of maximum sized SUV's. Strategic placement of concrete pillars and/or metal posts make parking a not-to-be-missed experience. Except I usually exit the car first so that my husband can park in peace. It's that or hide under the dashboard with my hand over my mouth.

As to carts, seems like the polite people stay at Mountainside, there has never been an issue AND the carts were either replaced or refurbished recently. Win win!

It is the same way in the summer. There are four large SUV's or Pick-up trucks for every sedan. I wish all MVC resorts had Costco sized parking spaces. The longer trucks are are making backing out of spaces a real challenge, especially if they have a trailer hitch.
