For people that do this please respond with why! [Resort luggage carts and parking]

After reading this, I’m just so happy I don’t regularly use luggage carts.

FWIW, the few times I’ve used them, I have had similar experiences as those mentioned here.

As for the double parking spot issue… I see that at WKORV-N every time I visit on level 3 (top level), though in fairness it seems all the parking spots are “compact” and a lot of guests rent huge vehicles.

I can say that all these self centered people its their parents that are to blame, if they were raised right with manners and humility then they would be better people. But it is sad that parents as a whole have stopped raising their kids right.

So, you are not to blame. Just blame your parents its easier.

I've had to park well over a line when the adjacent car is so far over I have to adjust for it. It's always awkward later when I walk out, the other car is long gone, and my car is sitting there looking like a drunk parked it.

In Maui last week the lobby was full of luggage carts which was nice. We used a few but we took all of them back to the lobby. Our issue was we rented a Tesla and the parking spots by the charger were occupied by gas powered cars. Finally the Chevy Malibu moved so we could charge.

Oh, and that guy that brings a big SUV or a pickup truck.......... There should be a list of "banish able" things brought to the resorts. And teenagers........

Many "drive to" resorts do not take into account when designing parking spaces that when people drive to a resort (perhaps long distances) they will drive the biggest most comfortable vehicle they own, not the smallest compact.

Unfortunately, I have seen the same issue at OceanWatch many times. We usually visit in peak season, and almost always have trouble finding a cart. We generally need to go floor to floor to find one sitting in the hall. Aggravating. The really annoying ones are when a single family uses 2 or 3 carts and puts them all outside their 1 villa.
My take on this is, those are likely the same people that will leave all their trash along the pool edge, and leave their plates and cups all over the tables outside the market when done. They are the ones that will say, "I own here and pay enough in MF's that someone else should pick it up." No butthead, look around, and see all the other owners here that don't act elitist.

For the parking issue, that's just stupidity. You could take a pic of their parking pass, call the front desk and give them the code on the pass so they can call them and tell them to move it. Whether that happens or not is another question.

You are so right! My wife and I discuss this all the time. Our daughter is finishing 8th grade right now. Her testing is complete, but they still have school days until this Friday. Most students in the school have been picked up around noon each day, or don't go at all, because they don't want to have to sit in school. Sure, they aren't doing a whole lot, but these are still school days, they are getting social interaction, etc. Parents today want to be their child's friend, not their parent. This is why so many grow up with the entitled attitude.

Last three times at Grand Vista...we've arrived mid/late evening...and had no luggage carts and no shopping carts at all available. Staying near Buildings 77/78/79. We never had this issue in past. I went scouring across other buildings to find one in the dark.

Regardless of resort, if we see a luggage cart in the hallway just sitting...we'll bring it in the elevator and place it back to where most visitors would look. We find that some people just are too lazy to bring them back immediately after use. :/

Hotels have the same problem. We stayed at a hotel in Montgomery, AL, a Marriott hotel, and it's not a small hotel. There were no luggage carts for the hour that we sat at breakfast and kept watching for one to show up. Asked at the front desk, and they have just two luggage carts! TWO! That is not enough luggage carts for a hotel with four floors and many units on each floor. I suspect people just leave the luggage carts in their room while they have breakfast.

Last night I used the whirlpool (poolside) at the resort I'm at around 10 PM. I was the only one there at that time of the day.

All kinds of people left their wet , used pool towels on their chaise after they had left the pool area. You have to walk RIGHT BY the used towel deposit to exit the pool. Who does this and why? How entitled do you think you are? JFC just deposit your towels where they belong.

I have noticed this entitled behavior happening more often the past couple years after covid here at MKO. The crappy parking of taking 2 spaces, carts left outside in hallways and chair hogs have gotten worse at MKO.

Maybe the resort should have a new policy to tow any car taking 2 spots

The luggage cart people must not have kids. Mine used to fight over who got to ‘drive’ it back.
Without the kids we don’t have enough luggage to need a cart.

People everywhere are unbelievable. I own a condo at a beach town. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten into the elevator and a cart was there. Really, you expect to put your cart on the elevator and someone else will put it back?

Not at a MVC, but twice at HGV resorts i i complained to my "neighbors" in the hallway about the lack of carts and they commented that they just keep them in their rooms for the entire stay to make sure they have one when leaving... arg....

Besides being incredibly inconsiderate, who wants a cart taking up space in your unit...

When visiting certain resort and locations, I try to avoid bringing the cart into the villa. You never know what might be hitchhiking on it.

Not unusual for carts to disappear on check in days at MOW. People use them and just leave them in the hallways hoping they magically just disappear or will just sit there until they are eventually ready to take it down on their way out. Parkng is a problem everywhere. People buy these big SUV’s and don’t havea clue how to park properly. They could care less if they use up two spaces because of their incompetence. But, it all really boils down to it happens because of being entitled. I’m entitled to drive like an idiot, so I will. I’m entitled to do whatever I want wi5h the carts, so I will.

The entitlement mentality is defined as a sense of deservingness or being owed a favor when little or nothing has been done to deserve special treatment. It's the “you owe me” attitude. Entitlement is a narcissistic personality trait. It's not known exactly how this mentality develops. entitlement syndrome definition from WebMD.

I can never understand why healthy able people park in handicapped parking spots, especially when there is abundant parking nearby. I see the worst offenders at health clubs, including the Planet Fitness near me. There are only four handicap spots, but they are often used by young healthy people who are going to work out. I never see it enforced, so that is probably why people do this.

For years my Mom was deputies by Corvallis Oregon to issue Parking Citations for Parking in Handicapped Spots without displaying a Placard. Being a Senior Citizen she greatly enjoyed this ability.

This is how we avoid luggage carts all together. Of course it’s taken me > 20 years to get my wife to pack like Rick Steves, but we’re really enjoying not packing and lugging half the house each time we travel

Exactly! I take one bag and a laptop bag, and that’s it. It’s not difficult! (Excepting ski trips, of course…). :)

That's great - unless you have kids. The insane mountain of stuff we have to lug around to accommodate the little ones is overwhelming. We have to use two carts to get it all up.

The resort with this problem which irritates me the most is at Ko Olina. At our last visit in April 2022, we had been going to the basement car park as well as walked up every level to look for luggage carts and not one to be found. I asked whatever Ko Olina staff whom I could locate, everyone shrugged their shoulders. Finally one person said to go the the entrance / valet drop off area because people who checked out and called UBER left the the luggage racks out there. My husband trekked there and found a dozen or more luggage racks. This is one which I absolutely blame on the staff. People get into the rideshare car are going to leave the racks there when they leave. The resort did not have staff to regularly push them back to the respective buildings.

I always wonder if this isn't because they want you to use bell services to handle your luggage meaning more tips for them?
