I am new to this and may be in the wrong place, but I wanted to say that Festiva's representatives have also completely misrepresented the company and what they are selling. Unfortunately, we bought into and are probably now stuck. We were members with Equivest with 1400 pd for pts. which we used strictly on Interval International to book vacations with never a single problem. In October, 2007, we were contacted by a Festiva rep. who said Equivest was out of business, our pts. were being converted to Festiva and in the future we would have to book all vacations through Festiva. That we could take advantage of the opportunity to purchase an additional 1000 pts which would give us more vacation time. All lies. We purchased the additional pts and are now told they are no more than the original 1400 we already had and had paid for; that we have to book all our pts through them with Interval International if we want to book through Interval and unless we book the pts with Interval we can no longer go to their website and search for vacation availability and destinations. SCAM SCAM SCAM Not to mention the worst customer service I have ever dealt with.

So far that sound about right when one TS company is taken over by another company.

So what does Festiva say you purchased??

Most of the time, when a company is bought out, the new company will go to the old owners and try to get them to buy into the new company. You don't have to do it!! No matter who runs your resort, you can almost always continue to use and trade your week like you've done in the pst without buying anything extra. But you will have to deal with the new company ( for reservations & MFs) since they will be managing your resort.

Most TS companies require that you book your week at your resort( thru the TS company), then deposit that week with II. Once deposited with II, you search II like you always have done. Are you sure that this isn't what you are still allowed to do?? ( since I'm not sure what festiva policy is. )

With Equivest points you did not have to book a week through Equivest to exchange through II. You just went online at II and searched for exchanges using the number of points you wanted to use, which was dependent upon unit size and season. Then you either made a instant exchange or initiated an ongoing search.

There is a long thread of mostly unhappy Festiva owners here on TUG. A Festiva employee regularly answers questions on this thread and goes by the name Festiva Rep. Ask questions or make comments and the Rep will probably respond to you. Their customer service with it's long on hold wait is universally condemned by owners. Start at the beginning of the thread and read to the end to get a better feeling of what you now own. At the end make your own posts and hopefully Festiva Rep will respond to you.

Please feel free to post on this thread: http://www.tugbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=70318
