HELP! Our RCI membership expires today. We're brand new to this (the timeshare was given to us) and need to know if it is worth the $124.00 for 1 year membership.
We also have 88 points that expire today unless we extend them through RCI. Is it worth the 134.00 to extend them for 1 year?

Welcome to Tug.

If you will be using them, yes it it worth it to extend. You can get a few trades with those points. Be aware you also will have to pay a trade fee each time you trade for a week.

Thank you, Panina! We are finding that there are so many hidden fees. We're just trying to make sense of it all.

Here on TUG you can learn everything you need to know to learn how to use your timeshare the best. Once you empower yourself with knowledge it will begin to make sense.

If it's 88 TPU's then it's worth extending. If it's truly 88 RCI points that's nothing and not worth extending.

JohnPaul is right TPU points are worth extending not the RCI point system unless you will depositing more points and believe you will need those 88 points for a future trade. On a different system I once was short a few points and could not trade for what I wanted.

Plus if you keep up your RCI membership you will have access to their Last Call & Extra Vacation weeks. These are weeks that you can 'buy' (cash) and they wont use up any of your points. Until we bought our (RCI)points week to go along with our deeded week, we used 2 or 3 of those extra weeks a year. Booking them was cheaper than owning another week as often they go on sale for around $300/week. You wont get a prime week or location but we've found some pretty good locations.

If you really do have RCI Points, along with the 88 that are expiring (or have expired) you probably have additional points in your account. Probably not worth paying to extend 88 points (is it 88k maybe? If so, yes I would pay to extend.)

Since you say the renewal fee is $124, sounds like it is RCI Points...as the RCI Weeks fee is $89 (last I heard.) However, I don't recall the fee being $134 to extend RCI Points... unless maybe they've been extended once and the fee is higher to extend again. I've never had to extend points.
