Europe's most dangerous cities as viewed by their own citizens

Saw the same thing in my feed yesterday. You seem to be a Europe centric individual. What do you make of this post. Accurate? What is up in the UK?

Crime is becoming more of a problem in western Europe, and the statistics show it is not the native Europeans committing most of them. That is generally less of a problem in eastern Europe. Knife crime in countries like the UK, Germany, France, and some others is rampant. Trains, which used to be very safe, no longer are. Rail unions in a number of countries including Germany, France, and Italy have been warning of the huge increase in crime on trains and in stations.

Paris and Rome are our favorite cities to visit and to walked the streets .

I have traveled by train in most European countries, with Finland, Liechtenstein, Albania, and Andorra being the sole exceptions, and it has always in the past been a very safe and comfortable way to travel. In the last few years that has sadly been changing in much of western Europe. Now the rail unions in some countries are even advising caution due to rising crime, which their own members are also victims of on trains and in stations.

Here are a couple of recent examples of tourists being victims of crime on trains or in stations:

A New York tourist boarding a train in Milan, Italy, robbed of his luggage and other items at knife point and stabbed in the neck:

A 19 year old male Czech tourist robbed and raped at knife point by two 15 year old thugs at the train station in Dresden, Germany:

I have travelled all over both Germany and Italy by train and never encountered a situation where I felt I was in any danger. Now the rail unions in both countries are openly warning of crime on trains, and the Italian rail union even went on strike over it. I have also personally been through the Milan and Dresden railway stations multiple times and considered both to be safe, but apparently not any more.

A new poll for a German media group finds that only 14% of German women now feel safe in train stations. The poll did not ask if they felt safe on the trains themselves. The poll asked about perceived safety in a wide variety of public spaces, and no public space was ranked more unsafe than train stations.

It has been a few years since I have been on a train in Germany, but in those days both trains and stations certainly appeared to be safe, but there have been significant changes in German society since then. I would personally still regard trains in eastern Europe as safe. From what I have heard from women who ride trains in eastern Europe, I have never heard any concerns about safety on trains except years ago about the theft and robbery problems on Russian trains.

Heard on tv today phone thefts in London are rampant . A friends dtr was murdered ~ 10 years ago in Austria , the guy who had her phone murdered her and that is how they found him. She'd been trying to help him avoid being removed from the country, allowed him to stay at her rental....

Why on earth would they help the man that murdered their family?

the victim was trying to help the person that stole her phone after he murdered her

You certainly did not make that clear
Reread what you wrote

I was born in Europe and all my relatives aside from my parents and immediate family still live in Europe (Germany and France). I speak on the phone to my European relatives every day. I also visit Europe multiple times per year.

In my opinion, Europe has changed, but not as much as some commentators might complain about. Of course, the "change" is that many European countries welcomed in refugees from the Middle East, most of them young men. And who are usually the most troublesome demographic worldwide (including in your and my neighborhood in the US)? Young men.

Why did they welcome these refugees? They SAID that it was due to the US having caused all manner of Middle Easterner's deaths and life disruptions and they wanted to help those who were adversely impacted by that. But that was the excuse. The real reason was they hoped to replicate the extraordinary competitive advantage of the US in having vast numbers of grunt laborers from south of the border do all manner of work that American natives wouldn't do.

In fact, Europeans looked upon the United States with envy. The US incredibly had those "illegals" pay for their own transportation to the US, pay for their own lodging, and work like madmen for below market wages. Not only doing all manner of labor that Americans didn't want to do, but incredibly doing it twice or three times (or more) as fast and as well.

So that's what they hoped for. What did they get? A hostile group of new immigrants who didn't do even a fraction of the work American's "illegals" do. Our Hispanic laborers are the most extraordinary workers on earth. They are working machines who can incredibly work for ten, twelve hours per day in the blazing hot summer sun.

They're also Christian, also love (or at least loved) the United States, are excellent parents to their children, and are for the most part pretty meek and not inclined to confrontation.

So the Europeans F'd up by fantasizing about having our Hispanics. But they didn't get anything even remotely close to our Hispanics. They would have been better off by arranging for Hispanic work permits and providing airline transportation for those workers when necessary.

Mexico in the winter is looking pretty good , even with all of their problems. :)

Go to Aruba
It’s safe
They don’t play games with immigration etc
I’ve had a house there for almost 30 years
Almost zero crime

I looked and reread but don't see what is missing
You make it sound like the guy who murdered her is who they are assisting in staying there and giving housing too
Please reread
Unless that’s what you meant to post
If it is then I can tell you personally… that’s insane imho

It was the guy who she was trying to help , he was looking to remain in the country and the 20 something gave him a place to stay. He didn't repay her with kindness, he murdered her and took her phone. I knew the girls mother. the victim was studying music over there and it was the people that hired her as a nanny part time that reported her missing. Insane I'd agree, but that is what happened, not everyone has our same values as they come from a different society .
