Does Starwood really wonder why some of us are baffled and annoyed with them?

Dear Cynthia,

Thank you for contacting Sheraton Vacation Ownership. We welcome the opportunity to assist you.

We apologize for any confusion. Reservation 288XXX is not showing on your MyStarCentral account because it is made with contract 402XXX. This contract is not linked to your other weeks of ownership because your name is deeded as Cynthia XXXX while your name is deeded as Cynthia L XXXX on your other weeks. Please rest assured that we currently have both reservation 288XX0 and 288XX1 on file.

If you wish to view reservation 288XX0 online, you must create a separate MyStarCentral login for contract 402XXX.

Should you need further assistance, please contact Owner Services at:

At least you got a reply. I sent a message on mystarcentral back on 12/30 asking a simple question that STILL has not been responded to.

Cindy, the exact name on the deed matters a lot. Even with the same first/last name and address, you could be mother and daughter. I sure wouldn't hold it against Starwood that they didn't automatically bundle them all together.

Same address, same phone number, same people on the deeds. This is a middle initial, and our kids are on our deeds, so no, it cannot be that close and be someone else. If I give them my phone number, they see all of my weeks, including this one. It's really, really ridiculous.

I am having enough problems keeping track of II deposits, and now this issue.

Rick is going to start a trust and put all of our timeshares into it. The only ones we won't include are the Wyndham, because that would just mess them up, and our Platinum benefits.

I guess he needs to do that this next month, finally, and be done with issues from Starwood (not that it will solve the II exchange issues).

cindy, ... This is the same problem you had 2 years ago - putting all sorts of conflicting, non-standard names on the various deeds. Then, complaining Starwood and II would not let you have one account for all. Sorry to see you have done little or nothing over the past 2 years to cure this "problem."

The same solutions recommended to you 2 years ago apply. You have always held the key to removing the problems which you yourself created on the assumption you would need lots of varying deeds to avoid probate.

One trust may not work if you demand that different properties be held by different beneficiaries in different percentage ownerships which will change as you continue to buy and sell properties every year. The problem will not be Starwood. Starwood will probably honor the single trust. (But, have you checked with Starwood's Legal Dept. to see if the single trust consolidating properties with various ownership groups will work?) The problem will most likely be the cost of drafting the trust documents the way you will want them drafted.

Preparing and filing corrective deeds from the various owners to the trust is probably the safest way to get everything into one account. Good luck unscrambling this unique mess. ... eom

OK to continue this thread of why I'm baffled and annoyed with Starwood. We just returned from a point stay in London. One night on my points and one night on my wife's points. Got an email from starwood on both which said they pulled the points for the award.

BUT it seems that the hotel booked one under cash. So when checking out they said they gave us a bill , after several minutes and several people they found the award and said they wouldn't bill us. Now the hotel says they never said that and will not bill the stay to the award

Still working to get this fixed. BUT as the local starwood hotel that we used to stay at several times a year recently changed to a non starwood hotel using this award may not be that easy.

Bill4728, ... "One night on my points and one night on my wife's points. ... BUT it seems that the hotel booked one under cash."

I think you are confused about what happened. Your problem is that you and your wife made 2 separate reservations for one night and only checked in on one reservation. So, the hotel charged one day of the reservation you checked in on to points and the additional night stayed to cash. That's why you got one bill. You would have gotten 2 separate bills if you had checked out on the one reservation and then in on the other reservation.

You lost the points on the 2nd reservation because you neither checked in on it nor cancelled it more than one day prior to the day you were supposed to arrive.

Did you make it clear that 2 reservations were made with different confirmation numbers when you checked in?

This confusion could have been easily avoided by having your wife give you her Starpoints and making only one reservation under your name. If the hotel is just managed by Starwood (not owned) there might not be much that Starwood can do to get the hotel to relent - except to return the Starpoints used for the 2nd reservation to your wife or your account. ... eom

You have it documented that they are considering it an award stay. So I'd threaten to dispute the credit card payment if they persist.
