Resorts Owned
Marriott, King's Creek Plantation, Disney, Spinnaker
Hi, This is a newbie posting his first. We recently purchased an update from Kings Creek Plantation, a Spinnaker resort or so we thought., but I am getting ahead of myself. We are 81 years old, and our unit at King's Creek has a full flight of stairs which we find too difficult with our luggage. We attended a sales presentation to review our options. We purchased a package that converted our unit to points and were interested in it because we were told we could trade our points "in house" without an exchange fee.We purchased in April 2025 and finally about 4 weeks ago we were able to book. We enjoy our Spinnaker resort at Bluewater Marina on HHI and tried to use our points to book and were told that we had to pay the II exchange fee of $239. We promptly pointed out that our contract stated no exchange in house. We were told that was correct but their interpretation of in house was within King's Creek Plantation. We own Marriott and Disney in house means any of their Resorts . We are wondering if other individuals had the same experience and if they had a successful resolution. We like our Spinnaker holdings just not our King's Creek experience.. We would like to know if anybody resolved this issue, without resorting to litigation. We always considered ourselves reasonable and were wondering how we could go about it. Member Services at King's Creek Plantation were not helpful. We were wondering if Timeshare Users Group could be of any help at pointing us in the right direction to resolve our issue. We forgot to mention that King's Creek is listed on Spinnaker' website as well as our contract at King's Creek in the Owners section of Spinnaker. If litigation is necessary, any recommendations for a legal firm would be appreciated. Thanks

You were scammed, but nothing you can really do about it. DO NOT GET SCAMMED AGAIN and believe anyone can "fix" this for you. No lawyer can fix this, and if they could it would only make sense if they are willing to take it on contingency with no upfront fee (which they likely will not.). At 81 years old you must know the phrase if it is too good to be true, it probably is. Also, you probably know that you entered into a contract and are bound by it.

Best strategy if you don't want it, is to just stop paying. They will foreclose and it will be gone, probably not long after you are. It will not affect your heirs, and they will have all the money you would have paid them. Sorry this is so straight forward, but anything else would be coddling you.

IMHO, another senior citizen was taken advantage by a TS sales person.
This TS sales person only wanted to make a commission sales.
