Hi everyone, I’m excited to join this incredibly knowledgeable community. I am just returning from Florida after attending a Hilton Vacation Club session. We didn’t buy but the program has me interested in resales. A few questions:

1) Did I make the right call? The package was expensive for 8,000 points but came with a lot of perks like a dream vacation, 16k bonus points to start and membership that included the recent merger.

2) if I buy HVC resales is there a property location that is the best to acquire?

Yes, you made the right call. Research timesharing A LOT before buying anything. How much $ did they want from you?
And welcome!

Congrats on no buying from the developer then having to go through the process of rescinding

Hilton is a good system and it treats resale owners fairly.

You can buy 8000 points (or any number) on the resale market for a fraction of the retail cost.

The OP is referencing Hilton Vacation Club, could this have been a Diamond Resorts points package that was being pitched?

Hilton vacation club (the old diamond) strips many if not most benefits of ownership on resale. Research carefully.

If that's the case, I take back my comment in post #5 above.

It is HGVC (Hilton Grand Vacation Club) that is fair to resale owners.

That's the old Diamond Resorts. So mostly 3 star resorts, although Cabo and Kauai are great. There are frequently people giving away their Diamond points for free. Location doesn't matter with Diamond/HVC as the properties are mostly in collections that have the same MF and you can go to any resort in the collection. If you like Florida get the US Collection not Hawaii collection as they have dozens of Florida resorts.
