Hi tuggers

I have currently a 1br on hold on rci. I would really like to confirm it, but my challenge is that I need to borrow points from 2017. I have points for 2017 but would need them for my home resort.

Since I have just passed rofr on a 6200 pts and are waiting for the deal to close and the points go into my account I thought if it was possible to confirm the rci vacation, and have the points borrowed from 2017. Once I get the 6200pts would it be possible to have hgvc to take the points from there instead? This way I would still have the full 2017 points.

Regards

I think a CSR at the call center can change where points are taken from.
AFAIK, they haven't set a fee for rearranging the deck chairs, yet.
But I suggest you call them to ask, first.

They should be able to swap the points arround for you. I was in a similar situation earier this year, and did that for us.

Hi

Thanks for your replies. I'll try and give HGVC a call.

Just talked to them, and they told me they "couldn't" change where the points were taken from.

I confirmed the vacation anyway. I'll try and call them once the new points are in my account.

Regards.

I would definitely try again once you have points available in your account.

We we were almost the exact same situation earlier this year, we used all of our 2015 points, and borrowed from 2016 to cover 10 days in Hawaii.

When added Kings Land to our ownership in Dec, i ended up with additional 2015 points. Customer service was able to rework the reservation to use up all the new 2015 points before borrowing any 2016 points..

Not sure, they may have technically canceled and rebooked the reservation to do this. In any event they did not charge me anything.

Not sure said:
I think that's the key - they cancelled and re-booked for you. I have not had luck with them just changing where the points came from for me. If they are quick or if the unit isn't in high demand they can cancel and re-book and you won't lose it. But with this being via RCI I doubt they have that ability (to cancel and re-book).

Good luck. It sucks to lose points or to use 2017 points when you have 2015/16 available.

I had missed this was an RCI booking... i was thinking a club booking.. I would still try, but it may not be possible.

I don't know if this approach is far fetched but, after confirming, I actually changed one of my hgvc reservations. During the change the system asked if I wanted to use current years points plus borrowing.

I could then argue that this booking was the one that actually used points from 2017 - and have the booking department switch the points around?

Currently the points from the rci reservation has not been taken from my account. When are the points normally deducted from my hgvc account when a rci confirmation is made?

Regards.

I think it took almost two weeks for me before my HGVC points disappeared for an RCI exchange.

Originally, I had booked something (club reservation) that used up all my 2015 points and borrowed from 2016 as well. Than I booked an RCI exchanged that borrowed from 2016. Than I changed the original club booking that ended up using less points, so I had 2015 points left over, and didn't plan on anymore vacation for 2015.

I called up HGVC, and they transferred me like 4-5 different reps/dept., but finally I got a rep that understand that I didn't want my RCI exchange to use 2016 points, and she did some funny/strange math/accounting in my account. She added points in 2016, and subtract points in 2015. But it worked out the same, my 2015 points were gone, and I had 2016 points to use.

So, it does take finding the right person/dept., I am just not sure which dept. that is.

Good Luck, but it will take patience, I think I spent almost an hour on the phone to get that done.

Was all the accounting done prior or after the rci points being deducted from your account?

After, this is 2-3 months after my RCI exchange. I had an un-expected wedding I needed to attend from my wife's side of the family, so I had to re-arrange my vacation. HGVC reservation was changeable, RCI wasn't...

Thanks, this at least gives me a little hope of being able to change my reservations so I would have points available for 2017.
