Hgvc points shuffle?

I made a reservation in 2014 using 2015 points for an RCI reservation in 2015. I recently made a reservation using the rest of my 2015 points and borrowed 2016 points to book another reservation in 2015 (this time at an hgvc resort). I now may need to cancel the first (RCI) reservation. I know I will lose my exchange fee, but I am wondering about the returned points. Do they get returned to RCI or hgvc? If they return to hgvc, will the points shuffle, as in, will the returned points then apply to my 2015 hgvc reservation and I will get my 2016 points back? It's a little complicated, but I hope I explained my situation clearly. Both these reservations are more than 6 months away, if it makes any difference. Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, I do not believe that HGVC points shuffle in a manner similar to other systems (like Worldmark). I've encountered this where I made two reservations and then could not optimize the one I ultimately kept to use the weakest points.

I hope others have a creative suggestion for you but my experience is not encouraging.

Please let us know if you have success here, that would be great to know.

Best,

Greg

It won't do it automatically but I recall someone reported that they called HGVC to reshuffle their points without an issue. I would try ;)

I had that situation once. I called and was transferred to the RCI rep and she happily shuffled for me.

I too am way to concerned I might lose my reservation. They said there is a chance. I have a summer ressie at HHV booked using borrowed points, after I had already booked another Holiday ressie for HHV using this year points. Looks like I will cancel the holiday ressie, but I have firm plans for the second ressie I made.

I am way too chicken to even chance the shuffle on the off chance that I lose the ressie. Wish there was a way they could do that without the risk of losing your ressie.

LOL, I agree. I won't touch travel dates that are no longer available online (especially HHV )
Perhaps see if HGVC can reshuffle after you complete your HHV summer ressie.

You have to call...

I had this happened to me also, in the reverse order where I booked club season and RCI later (with borrowing 2016 points). I had to cancel club season, and wanted the RCI one to use the 2015 points so that I don't have worry about planning another 2015 vacation.

I called, and it took getting transfer to 5 different representative, but once I got the right rep, they took care of it right away. The first rep didn't understand the point of what I was trying to do, and what a credit shuffle helps with.

But yes, it possible, you just have to call.

Great3

Last August I borrowed 1700 points from 2016 for a reservation in 2015. In Dec 2015, we traded up to larger point ownership, thus giving me an extra 3400 points for 2015. After reading this thread, i called and was able to get HGVC to shuffle the points to use the 2015 points instead of 2016.

That much better as now i have longer to use the points.
