I am presently at Presidential Level with Marriott. Just in the process of selling 1 unit that will reduce me down by one level. Does this happern at the end of the year, or, once the sale has been completed, probably end June or July. Wondering this as to how it will affect my Banking of Options (either Aug 31st or June 30th if reduced mid year.)
thanks for any information on this.

An increase in benefit level happens as soon as the relevant change occurs in the owner account. I imagine it’s the same with a decrease in benefit level.

I recall some people noting in the past that it took a couple years. It really should happen right away, but who knows. Perhaps you can let us know how it works for you after the sale is complete.

I remember somewhere in the Abound FAQs that they recalculate your level annually at December 31st and make adjustments then. I did some research on this because I was thinking of getting rid of a small amount of Trust points in the past and I wanted to see the effect it would have on any grandfathering. When you buy more to move up a level, it appears that they make that instantaneous as part of the incentive.

Thanks very much for the update. This is also how I believe it occurs, but wanted to check in.

Another issue I have been fighting with Marriott (Bonvoy) is that my status has been downgraded from Titanium to Platinum*, based on nights stayed last year. However, the Titanium status was based on the ownership level and was supposed to be "for life". Each side is pointing to the other, and I have not had satisfactory resolution. Anyone else have this happen? This took place around 1 Mar. I stayed at a hotel for work in Feb and was still Titanium. Any suggestions other than making weekly phone calls?

*Platinum is about $2100/t oz, or about $67/gram. Titanium is about $7/kg - basically 9500 times less expensive. Why is it a higher status? :D

Are you Presidential or Chairman's Owner Benefit Level? You don't happen to have your spouse or other owner on your account setup with Marriott Vacation Club as primary owner?

Gold is the second lowest Bonvoy status but the price is currently the highest. The only real accurate Bonvoy status is silver.

I just checked and I still have Titanium Elite even though I do not have enough nites, but have this level based on my ownership (Chairman).

I’m Presidential Level, and the primary owner. I’ve been calling them periodically and the response I get is that they’re aware of the issue and will fix it (but no timeline). I have some work trips coming up and I’d like to have the status restored.

I think gold passing the price of platinum is relatively recent.
