3 days in a row I have been getting calls from this number (Member Services) 1-813-553-4104

Since no message was left on the prior calls I wanted to get to the bottom of this caller.

The ploy is that they claim to be from Interval International. Goading me to make money on renting out my timeshares.
Continue to explain how I can rent out the Getaway weeks from II.

I immediately interrupt and call out this idiot and hang up!

Of course I know that renting out Getaway weeks from II is a blatant violation. Did not continue the conversation as I was busy.

Seem to recall that there may have been other reports here on TUG about these fraudulent calls?

Just found the related Thread on this scam.

I am really happy now. I was very rude and terse with this idiot. He tried to explain to me all about Timeshares and instructed me to get ready to write this info down. "Dude I know all about timeshares. Cut to the chase!"

Not really a new scam but one that people keep falling for. I have posted previously that these cold calls about renting your non-existent getaway weeks are going to be advertising/listing companies. Many scam companies are using the same lies, almost verbatim. Not sure if that means these are the same scammers or if there is a scam playbook on the dark web. They lie to get the upfront fee, neglecting to tell timeshare owners that all they plan on doing is marketing their timeshare for big bucks. They don’t tell owners the truth because I firmly believe that there is absolutely no marketing behind the curtains. They simply call for upfront fees.

There is no marketing, there are no offers coming through, they don’t attend conferences or events peddling their business, they don’t do anything but cold call. I also believe that if someone complains, they forward fake offers to make the owner think there is some action. I read a BBB complaint on one of these companies. The person stated that he received four offers. Three of them were “rescinded” and the fourth one was impossible to reserve. These scammers are smart. The facade of a marketing company makes this a civil matter, not a criminal matter. The scammer can simply argue that they provided a service (marketing) for the fee. Everyone taken by this scam needs to report it to their state Attorney General. If an investigation is done on the company, they will clearly see that no services are being provided and that it is a complete scam.

I wanted to add that, like you, I have spoken to a few of these cold call scammers. It is VERY difficult to get the company name from them, even if I play along for a while. That is intentional for sure. I try to be as “nice” as I can, not knowing if the caller is simply an employee who has no clue but I do tell them “you may not know this but your company is scamming people.”

Did not let this scammer idiot get anywhere near an explanation. As soon as Interval International was mentioned I was totally ready for the lies and mounds of manure.

To me this was a new scam. However as mentioned and found the previous postings about this scam. So perhaps I should remove "NEW" from the post title? Either way we need to keep this topic fresh and updated.

This scam is new to many people who keep paying these low lifes. I would keep the title to get their attention.

Edited: I see you changed the title. I think it works since you still mention the word “new”.

I did edit the title to remove "new". It is obvious now this is a retreaded playbook of a scammers playbook. It was a new experience for me. Have to really thank the Tug community as I did sense in my memory bank that this line of crap was really a stinker. Had no patience to play games.

I did edit and put "new" in a different context.

I keep getting the calls as well. The last one I answered, I tried to get him to say what timeshare he is calling about. He said, this is RCI. I said, "What timeshare, which timeshare resort are you calling about?" If RCI calls, they know what I own. If II calls, II knows what I own. These are blatant, and hopefully everyone sees through the lies.

I forwarded our home phone to my cell phone, and I am getting huge numbers of these calls. I mean, 4-5 a day, no kidding.

A few months ago I told them they could rent the weeks, take their cut, and mail me the proceeds. They hung up on me and haven't called back since.

.

Yes, I get this nonsense constantly. I seldom answer any of them except when I am in the car and can't see the SPAM warning that I get on my phone. Sometimes they actually leave a message and I can listen to their spiel. It is all nonsense as you surmised. There are no magic bonus weeks you can rent out. BTW it is not just II, but RCI, Hilton, Wyndham and many others.

It would be nice if a government agency or a timeshare group would publish a number where we could forward these calls and perhaps start getting some of it shutdown.

That is what I usually tell them. We had 2 calls earlier this week, one male called said he was from RCI and they needed extra weeks for something (didn't pay attentions to the reason), I just laughed and said buy your Extra Vacation weeks then and hung up! DH answered the 2nd call and said it was a woman who wanted to rent out our extra weeks. He told her we've used them all up.

I see so many people posting on the TUG or the various RCI Facebook pages about this and the 'let us buy your timeshare' scam, it's crazy! So many people are so gullible, they think they can make a lot of money doing this. I asked one FB poster today, -would you pay a real estate agent their commission before they sold your house based on the amount they told you it was worth?

Today the new number is 813-603-5236
Along with a personal concierge Ryan Harrison at 321-221-7309 available from 10 - 7 Eastern Time.
Ryan is my contact :poop:

Played with these knuckle heads for a while. Figure I could string them along for a while.
Would you believe Ryan had the nerve to disconnect my call! How rude. Not once... But twice!

That happened to me too when I was stringing one of these callers along. After a few questions, he asked me how much I am paying in MFs. When I said, "I don't know, we sold it over five years ago," he angrily responded, "Then why didn't you tell me this earlier!" then hung up quickly without saying another word.

Got a call again on my landline 813-867-0568

Website is thetravvynetwork.com

These people need to be shutdown!

Yes I posted about this one a few weeks ago.

Just know that anyone calling from "Interval" is 100% scam. If you want to have fun walk them thru the drill but do not provide any personal info. Just make stuff up and run with it (as the other side does the same). See if you can get the price of their scam (mine was $6000, but today's special price was $3000). Ask them to email the complete details so you can review. You know it is 100% guaranteed scam when they refuse to email or provide you any time to review it.

I hate I deleted the numbers and voicemails I had. They didn't start calling me until I acquired my Westgate timeshare (I already owned other timeshares) and what's crazy is that they said they were FROM Westgate so I thought it might've been legit. Said they had to talk to me about my timeshare so I called them back thinking they had some important information. Instead they went into their marketing pitch saying since I'm an owner I have a lot of bonus weeks available to me that are unused. So why not take advantage and make some money! Playing along I was like sure! What do I have to do? Do I go login to my account? Of course they said they could take care of everything. They just needed the upfront fee of $1700 which I would EASILY make back when my unit rented. I told them I was interested but had to talk to my wife so to call me back. Of course when they called back I never answered. Lol.

Just got another call from these scammers, I expect they are just shooting in the dark figuring that many people own timeshares. They claimed to be from VRBO and advised me that one of my interval weeks had expired but I have 3 remaining. Of course this smoke job makes as much sense as the Nigerian prince contacting me to claim his inheritance. I played her for about a minute and then she asked if I wanted them to send me some info. I replied "that's funny, last time you called they refused to email anything in writing" at which point we were mysteriously disconnected.

If you see a phone number from Ponte Verde FL (area code 407) and you don't know anyone there you just send them to voicemail as this area is known to be scammer central
