Baseball playoffs

Looks like the World Series will be won on Canadian soil for the first time in 32 years. :)
You think it's just a coincidence that it's been 32 years since a Canadian team took home the Stanley Cup??? The sports gods have linked together the World Series and the Stanley Cup. No Stanley Cup for Canada until they win a World Series.

Hopefully this coast to coast to coast support for Canada's baseball team will continue for Canadas hockey team, The Toronto Maple Leafs.

So you’re saying this may be the Oilers’s year? :)

Actually, it's been longer that a Canadian-based team won the Stanley Cup (Montreal Canadiens, May 1993) than it has been for a CDN team to win the World Series (Blue Jays, October 1993).

Personally, my favourite part of the last few games has been the inning where Dave Roberts leaves his tired starter in for just one more, then he gets in a jam and gets pulled anyway, leaving the bullpen in a tough spot where they promptly give in and the Jays get multiple runs.

I'm hoping Roberts remembers that happening too and Yamamoto gets an early hook. Or not, and he gets in a jam and we do it again would be fine as well. Definitely hoping not to see Yamamoto for all 9 innings.

The Jays still need to show up. It isn't going to be an easy road. The starter on Friday (Yamamoto) shut them down with a complete game the last time around. Then anything is possible in a game 7 with what would likely be mostly a bullpen pitching game.

No way. Go Habs Go.

Blue Jays 1992
Montreal Canadiens 1993
Blue Jays 1993

So,
Blue Jays 2025
Montreal Canadiens 2026 (it would be a miracle as the Habs is the youngest team of the NHL this year with an average players age of 25.2 years)
Blue Jays 2026

There's no way the Dodger's run with a bullpen game in the unfortunate circumstance this makes it to game 7. Glasnow pitched for game 3, will be rested, and has a 1.50 ERA this playoffs. He won't go 9 be he'd definitely get the start.

In game 7 I could actually see them going Glasnow for 5, Sasaki 2, Ohtani 2, or something like that. The Dodgers starters are much, much better than their bullpen.

Never. The only two reasons I'm rooting for an O'Cantada team, the Blue Jays ... 1) It's the Doyers, I'm an Angels fan ... 2) Vladdy Guerrero Jr, his daddy is one of my favorite Angels players of all time and the only Angel in Cooperstown. Otherwise rooting against all Canadian hockey teams unless, maybe, It's the LA Kings and then I may change my mind as I'm an Anaheim Ducks fan as well.

I was at the Skydome in 1992 as a season ticket holder when the hometown crowd counted down the last 9 strikeouts for the Blue Jays to win the ALCS for the first time. It was especially satisfying as we beat the Oakland A's and our nemesis at the time, Rickey Henderson. It was an exciting time and I'm hoping for a repeat win this year! Go Jays Go!!!
I'm saying this as a heartbroken Oakland A's fan, but I should let you know I was at Royals Stadium in 1985 when the Royals finished off the Blue Jays to finish the comeback from being down 3 games to 1 in the 1985 LCS.

This having been said, I'm definitely rooting for the Jays tomorrow, and Saturday if necessary, to beat the Dodgers. Saw Vlad Sr. and Bichette Sr. play too often to not be behind them now. Even got a ball thrown to me by Vlad Sr at an A's game once (when he was with Anaheim).

I still have not recovered from Lanny McDonald scoring the OT goal in game 7 of the 1978 playoffs to beat the NY Islanders, but I am rooting for the Blue Jays anyway. I do think Ohtani should be immediately inducted into the Hall of Fame, win or lose.

As an old baseball fan . I looked for this World Series to go seven games.
Outstanding pitchers, outstanding infield play and outstanding reliever's will decide this World Series. IMHO.

Sounds like the Blue Jays win? LOL

I think Kenny Rodgers had something to say about that

not that I can be bothered to "hate" any sports team, but my word, the things I hear about the Leafs from the Bruins fans I know ... and the things I have actually seen. And, yes, the Bruns have choked big-time 2x in the last ... maybe 20 yrs ... but at least they get to The Big Time

Wow. Would not have guessed that. Must have been Roy, but since I watched little nhl during the '90s, I struggle to think of another guy who would have been on that Habs team. Any HoFer? Any HoFer that spent most of his career with the Habs, esp early yrs?

Yes, it was Patrick Roy who won the Conn Smythe trophy that year and in 1986. Guy Carbonneau and Denis Savard are also HoFers.
