Atlantis/Harborside transportation

GrayFal,
There is a shopping center which is about a mile or so from Harborside. If you cross the Paradise Island bridge you go to the left and it is down the road about one half a mile on the right. The grocery store is called The Shopping Center Meat market. The prices were good compared to other prices around Harborside. Half Gallon of OJ. was $5.75 and a half gallon of milk was either $1.79 or $3.50. The lower price was for the close dated stuff which had two days remaining on the sell by date. Eggs went for $3.75 a dozen and Turkey bacon went for $4.50 a pack. They also have a couple of liquor stores there. Many of the other shops open between 9:00 & 10:00, but the meat Market opens around 7:00. There is a KFC located in this center as well. There is also a small liquor store right by Anthony's Grill which is across the street from the Marina. Harborside has a shuttle that goes to the shopping center a couple times a week. It goes there at 9:00 and picks you up an hour later. You can also take a cab to get there. I chose to walk so I could see the sights.

Are their cabs available at the shopping center when your done? I imagine they are lined up waiting for people...

There is a decent grocery store just where the water taxi drops you off in Nassau. I did my own tour of Nassau the day after I arrived and on the way back to the little water ferry-taxi dock, I lugged back my 3 bags of groceries and water.

I'll be going to HRA for the first time in early November. I was thinking of renting a car since it's my first visit to the Bahamas, and would allow me to explore the area more. What are your thoughts on that?

If you are going to stay on Paradise Island there is really no need for renting a car. They have shuttle buses that run about evert 5-10 minutes. There is a ferry that can take you to the Straw Market, and down town Nassau. Once you are in Nassau, they have buses there that can take you just about anywhere on Providence island for a buck or two. There is also taxi service available on both islands.
