Anyone quit claim their time share deed?

Orange Lake
Looking to quit my Orange Lake resort time share. Every attempt so far has resulted in no interest in buying, or a proposed cost of $$$$ to cancel it. I was thinking of using a quit claim to return it to the resort. There's a $10-$20 processing fee plus a notary fee. Anyone else go this route? Any pointers?

The time share is paid off and fees are current.

Thank you.

I would like to know this too. Several friends and family own with the former Silverleaf brand that want out. HICV has taken everything we purchased (or drastically modified) away except the underlying week. Keep us posted if you have an answer.

Somehow I don't think it''l be that easy. Otherwise, you wouldn't have all the problems of people not being able to get out of their timeshares and becoming targets for timeshare exit company scams. That kind of a "workaround" would quickly become common knowledge and spread like wildfire if it actually worked.

Offer the week on TUG in the FREE timeshares forum. It's easy to give a lot of timeshares away. I gave away a Polynesian Isles week right here in that forum years ago.

You can always deed it to someone yourself, but a quitclaim is not the best way. If you still owe money on it, no means of giving it away will work. No one wants your debt, but someone might take the free week. Lots of people really love Orange Lake.

You cannot force a timeshare management Co, or anyone else, to accept your timeshare using a Quit Claim Deed or any other method. I have had great success giving away timeshares on the TUG Free Timeshare Forum:

We have 2 original OL deeds, 1 signature (through SB) and 1 trust (through New Orleans). We go to most of the owners updates because we're amused by the creative ways they try to sell us. (We WILL NOT pay to bring those deeds into the trust). About the only thing consistent in these things is the claim you can return the timeshare to HIVC. The reason is also consistent - HIVC feels it devalues the brand to have them sold at bargain basement prices. I've used Quit Claim to add my kids so they are owners and the timeshare doesn't go through probate.
