A four turned into a 5 this morning.

SIX for me!
I'm not sure why I took so long to get there, but thankfully I did.
And quite embarrasssing? This is a family name, my Dad and brother's middle name, and we are staying at Daytona and it's the name of one of my nieces friends. Shouldn't I thought of it sooner?

I’m in the quartet today.
MOUSE was one of the answers in the NYT mini crossword today and I hadn’t used it in a while, so it got me an O. VIOLA pkaced the O correctly. FROCK added the R and K. At that point with my remaining letters, I deduced letter 4 had to be another O or N. BROOK was the first word I thought of and it worked.

I am surprised by the high numbers today. I thought that yesterday was much tougher, but most people beat my five.

A three for me. (Gee, that rhymes.)

Three. What??? I'll join "Roger" on this one. :D

I guessed a last letter of D, then M, and ran out of guesses before knowing it must be a K.

Six. Four possibilities for the first letter and I had to try them all before I got it. It could have been a three. Nope. A four. Nope. A five. Nope. Six.

I guess I should take solace from @tombanjo 's post. At least I ran out of possibities before I struck out.

Looks like I’m the leader in the clubhouse with a five. A hard one this morning.
HARDY found the ending Y and I actually thought that was a good start. POUTY added a U. I tried UNIFY and by process of elimination knew the U would be in se ind position, xUxxY. I stared at my keyboard for awhile before my brain became fully functional and I realized that positions 3 and 4 could be the same letter. I thought of SULLY and BULLY. I chose wrong. but did confirm the LL and BULLY it was.
