After reading another very recent thread, and the way it was hi-jacked, I suggest that all Marriott owners and even those who are just Marriott forum visitors start a boycott.

I suggest that you boycott responding to all posts placed on the TUG Marriott forum by John Chase (timeos2) for the month of February.

And just not respond at all his comments?

I'll sign up for this -- what a shame for the Timeshare Users Group to boycott a moderator.

You know, Perry used to get a thrill by stirring the pot, but at least his posts were very interesting reads and not geared toward any particular group. I actually smiled reading many of his posts.

It isn't just the Marriott owners, I think the DVC forum may want to join also.

I 2nd the motion. Guess mine is actually a 3rd since GT is already in as a 2nd

PS: Why just limit it to the Marriott board?

Timeos2 is OK, he is a great source of information and advise. A boycot serves no purpose. Maybe, I know it is a novel thought, that debating issues is more productive.

I agree, about some things John is extremely knowledgeable and he's very generous in sharing that knowledge. He's certainly helped me along the way and I'm grateful for that.

But about Marriott, not so much. What he's contributing to the Marriott board lately is counter-productive to TUG's purpose of educating folks about all things related to timesharing.

By boycott, I did not intend for a public laundry airing to occur either. So with that said, why don't we boycott talking about this persons habits or intentions either.

We simply agree to the terms and let it go.

What has happen to Freedom of Speech ?

I believe the courts have ruled that privet organizations and business do not have the full protections under this heading. However, the good news is that, as far as I know, does cover the right to be silent (Legal proceedings excluded).

Not sure how you "debate" with Timeos2 as his way is the only possible way!

His belief that the ONLY way to TS is with non-branded, no-name, HOA controlled, resale properties is incorrect - while that method works for him, his sole vision goes against the grain of the TUG mantra that "one size does not fit all".

His constant negative banter that higher end TS properties (and their associated purchase and MF costs) are not worth it is perceived as bashing and is offensive to the owners of those properties.

His statements about being able to access the higher end TS properties with his non-branded, no-name, HOA controlled, cost a dollar resale properties is offensive to the owners of those properties as he the manner in which he does it is purposely meant to poke a finger in the eye of those owners.

While he has alot of TS experience and knowledge, his personal opinion taints his role as a moderator on TUG.

Pure and simple, Timeos2 is not going to get much love from TUG masses. The explosion of TUG posts today on the topic says more than I could ever type.

But everyone is in agreement that Freedom to Boycott still exists, correct? ;)

Ya, why not.

In regards to the post on Timeos2 having his own thoughts on how to structure timeshares, I very much like his input. However, I am a complete and total failure in following his guidance (I buy direct from developers).

My problem with this is that if knowledgable (or even not-so-knowledgable) Marriott-knowledgable people do not refute statements made by someone with a beef who has the moniker "Moderator" attached to their name, then the casual reader or newbie will not understand that these are only that Moderator's OPINION, not fact or education re: ownership of Marriott's.

This forum and others are intended as a place for people to gain understanding and better use their respective TS's or make decisions about them. If those comments are allowed to stand alone - with a moderator label - they start to look more official and as if it must be common knowledge and that everyone is in agreement.

(Silence is often wrongly assumed to be agreement - historically)

Maybe I'll just post something along the lines of :ignore: :ignore: :ignore: :ignore: every time I want to refute..Or we all could...:hysterical: :hysterical: :hysterical:

Gee - hundreds of posts and you have condensed all of his experience and expertise in a few paragraphs - trouble is we all have to keep hearing the same posts repeatedly - unless you count as a variance his unbridled diatribes against Westgate - which he repeatedly misnames.

I think it is time to get a moderator who does not have such strong views - almost all negative - to contribute to the Board. Funtime

I'll join. It was my thread that he hijacked. I don't like anyone who climbs on their soapbox and hijacks other people's simple threads.

Add me to the list of those you will boycott. I am tired of hearing how dumb I am for not recognizing the special nature and great value of Marriott timeshares.

Actually Ron, I always enjoy reading your posts. You are courteous and you don't needlessly highjack threads.

Best,

Greg

Denise, if you feel that this thread needs to be closed, I'm fine with that. The point has already been made.

Calling for a boycott of someone may or may not meet the "be courteous" rule. :)

But Ron I've never heard you be narrow-minded about things. Its OK to disagree but it not OK to just go on and on about it.
