4 options for Hawaii?

I just got back from WKORV and went through the timeshare presentation. They said there were 4 options for Hawaii properties. He drew a circle and divided it into 4 even...

1) Trade for a like room in Hawaii. OV in Princeville = OV in Ka'anapali for instance.
2) StarOptions for all Westin/Sheraton timeshares
3) II
4) Convert to StarPoints for hotels/cruises/flights/etc

What's confusing me is 1)... I haven't heard of this anywhere else.

I thought maybe 1) is a natural consequence of the StarOptions since all Hawaii properties are 148100 options but I asked the salesman about buying through resale and he said the only things I'd miss would be 4) and all the incentives they were giving out.

Perhaps he meant specifically WKORV since it's a mandatory site and buying resale means you can still use StarOptions on any Hawaii property?

It would really be great if I can guy Princeville (voluntary) on resale ($5000) and use WKORV every year but somehow I don't think so.

Anyone know for sure what he was talking about?

Don't believe what sales tells you. There are no OV units in Princeville. Others will chime in and post more, I'm sure... Congrats for not relying on what you were told during the sales presentation.

#1 doesn't make any sense in any situation other than a home resort booking at WKORV if you owned an OV unit. That's the only way to guarantee that you actually get an OV unit. A home resort booking (8-12 months out) at WKORV guarantees that you will get the view that you own. Any other type of booking is subject to a pecking order of who gets what view, if available, etc.

Big fib - when you trade - the resort assigns your view. There is no like for like.

4 pillars of SVO usage:
1) Home resort
2) SVN
3) II
4) SP conversion

They need to go back to SVO TS school.

If you buy resale WKORV or WKORVN, you get 1, 2 and 3.

If you buy resale WPORV, you get 1 and 3.

As others have stated, view guarantees are available for 1 only.

I had not heard about trading between Princeville and Maui for resale properties. I understood that would have to be a standard Staroption exchange, or maybe an II exchange. In the scenario above, buying WKORV on the resale market would give you 1, 2 and 3, but buying Princeville would just give you 3.

Doesn't Pinceville just have one view? I don't think it is called Ocean View.

The OP got this info. in a sales presentation - so it wasn't a discussion about resale, but it was still incorrect.

What? My last Princeville stay was Ocean View - Room 3225

The deeded view categories at WKORV and WKORVN are:
Ocean Front
Ocean View
Island View

There is only one deeded view category at WPORV: Island View
As an owner at WPORV, you do not have priority for any particular location in the resort.

You may be able to see the ocean from some of the rooms at WPORV, but they are all classified Island View and it would be the lock of the draw if you happened to get one from where you can see the ocean.

In that sense, the salesman wasn't totally wrong, though a bit disingenuous. If you trade from WPORV into WKORV you are guaranteed to get the same view you had at WPORV - Island View. You might even get it upgraded!

As many have said - there is only 1 view catagory at WPORV. They also no longer take location requests for the Hammerhead sections at WPORV.

I have been in B7 HH section twice - the first time after WPORV had just opened it could still be requested and knew from TUG what to request (and called at 12 months 6am PST) - the 2nd time someone from SVO was kind enough to put the request in for me (as request were no longer taken) since I gave some input to SVO Marketing Dept (as a favor) and called in at 12 months as well. These views were fantastic for WPORV - I put up videos on YouTube (blujahz) and photos on Photobucket.
