[2023] ABOUND POINTS NO LONGER WILL BE OFFERED AS PRESENTATION GIFT

Just curious, why do you all keep going to these presentations when you know you will not be buying anything? We have been to a few, but now that we know better it just isn't worth the time and hassle.
Free stuff (points). We haven't paid cash for a hotel room in 7 years. We got free Heavenly Bed bedding (poor value) for our bed at home. You don't consider it worth your time, we do. That is the great thing about this world. We all have different priorities and can decide how we spend our time :)

7 years!! dang.

May/June update on Premiums offered:

Sales presentations - Most recent inducements were Bonvoy Points, Visa Gift Card, Resort Credits, and Plus Points.

Encore program - Inducements included Bonvoy Points, Experience Dollars, and Visa Gift Cards.

Oh and by the way, the use of Vacation Club Points for hotel rooms looks just as bad and insulting as the 800 points for the $189 insurance offer. I am surprised at the hype for these uses which only lesson my interest in the points program. What are they thinking?

300 plus points, 30000 Bonvoy, $300 Vegas.com or $150 cash offered at Grand Chateau. I tried to push for 400 plus points but no go. We may do a “Hell-no Hotel” update today or tomorrow.

I spent 3 weeks in Italy before the big devaluation on points. Gritti palace in Venice, St Regis is Florence and Rome and the Excelsior in Milan.
The points add up.

Really insulting indeed. I thought that maybe they would improve from the bonvoy conversions but they just doubled down .

50,000 Bonvoy points for a presentation in May and 60,000 Bonvoy points for a presentation this week. For this week's presentation, after 5 minutes of chat, our sales guy said if we had no interest in modifying or adding on to our portfolio, we had his permission to leave as he said they were overbooked and he had other people waiting to see him.

We received 500 points at Nanea this week. Low pressure. They couldn’t quite figure out how to improve on our portfolio other than offering us more Westin Flex or a Nanea fixed week 52.

They said it would take up to six weeks for the points to show in our account. For those who have recent experience, how long does it usually take the points to land?

We toured on 6/2 and the points showed up on 6/19.

I'm at Marriott Son Antem and was offered 200 EUR resort credit or 500 MVC points.

Do the Abound points offered from a presentation expire?

I'm at Marriott Son Antem and was offered 200 EUR resort credit or 500 MVC points.

That is exceptionally good for European MVC resorts.
Typically here they only offer 120 EUR resort or “external” restaurant credit.

I wonder if they offer something different to Europeans vs. Americans?

I wonder if they offer something different to Europeans vs. Americans?

I have wondered that myself, especially as Americans are used to much higher incentives back home so may be far less likely to attend otherwise?

It’s been over 10 years since I went to a meeting, but the 500 Abound points convinced me to try one more time. I'm hopeful I’ll learn something useful, but the odds are low.

Question
Can Abound Plus Points be transferred to another owner? Or only used by yourself for doing the presentation ?
They can't be transferred.

For those who have elected plus points for a tour recently, how long did it take for the points to appear? I went a week ago and hoping to book something for early Nov 2025.

We did on in may at it posted 3 weeks later. No email or anything, I just noticed they were there.

MIne were a couple of weeks. If it goes longer than about 3 weeks, I'd call the resort.

I went to Marriott Ko Olina as an deeded owner a few months ago.
I was offered (as 1 gift option for attending the sales presenation) 350 Abound points if I agreed to a sales presentation on site; I was offered 400 Abound points if I agreed and booked a sales presentation in advance of our arrival. I took the 400 points.

We had a presentation in Park City at Summit Watch late July. Received 400 Abound Points and showed up in our account in about 4 weeks.

We were offered a presentation at Cypress Harbour, but none of the options they mentioned were Club Points. Though I failed to explicity ask about them. It was the first time in a long time we refused to attend a presentation. They intially only offered $150 or 25,000 Bonvoy points or $200 in Charlies Steakhouse. 25,000 Bonvoy was not enough to get me out of bed for an 8:30am presentation at Grande Vista. They called back later to offer 30K then called this morning (waking me up) to ask if we would be willing to go for 35K. We are at the start of five weeks in five different Marriott properties, we may only get one tour out of it. We will wait it out to see if any of the others offer more.
