[2023] ABOUND POINTS NO LONGER WILL BE OFFERED AS PRESENTATION GIFT

Got a letter and then a follow up email.
“At this event, you’ll discover more direct access to Sheraton® Vacation Club and Westin® Vacation Club resorts including additional destinations and properties with additional time to choose how to use your Club Points. We are so excited about the launch of ABOUND by Marriott Vacations and to share with you how to use your ownership across all our brands. ”
I didn't get any update. Bummer. When is it?

Last month (September 2023), I purchased an Encore pkg in Hilton Head that included 1,800 Plus Points. I was told they are going to stop offering them. But who knows? It may have just been a sales tactic. Since I was going back anyway, the Encore pkg works for me to have a 3 night weekend stay and the points.

That’s a lot of points. How much was the package?

Yesterday we received an update call. The offer was $200 or 30,000 BonVoy points. We turned the offer down. There wasn’t any mention of plus points and I didn’t ask.

The push was to educate us on the merger and how to book Westin and Sheraton resorts using our Marriott account. Since we already have a future booking for a Sheraton resort, leverage was quickly lost. I wonder how long they’ll push the education on how to book the new options through Abound? Seems like a weak angle at this point.

Custom House - was offered $150 in gift cards or some Bonvoy points for a presentation. Lower than our recent experience and passed. May reflect a lowering of these offers.

I'd go to these presentations just to collect stuff but my husband would rather have his teeth pulled.

I arrived at GV and wasn't asked to attend a meeting! I guess they can still call the villa at some point this week.

That’s pitiful. Guess you’re really not their target audience
Me either. Grand Ocean rep called me to set up a presentation for next week and offered 15000 bonvoy points or $150. She asked why I hadn’t attended in 10 years? she assured me that in Hilton Head it’s a low pressure sell only at the end. Politely declined. I would like to hear about changes and developments but just can’t do it.

Your learn more truthful information about changes and development on TUG than you’ll ever learn attending owner update presentations with Marriott. The sad truth is the collective TUG community is better informed than the vast majority of Marriott sales staff.

Self referral points - In the past we were given a self-referral bonus of Bonvoy points. Has that been abandoned? Not that Bonvoy points are worth much anymore.

Funny you should say that. Lol. I attended a sales presentation at Grande Vista last week. Of course, the salesman was pressing me on the purchase of an additional 1000 points. During the conversation, I mentioned I was a member of TUG and that I have learned a great deal about the ins and outs of timesharing from extremely knowledgeable Marriott owners and his reply was, “yes, I am familiar with Tug, but, please remember one important thing, those people will only tell you 50% of the truth“. Lol, lol.

That’s hilarious.

That's defamation against us all. Class action suit!!

EDITED for 3rd location: On another social site, three people reported being offered Abound Points for presentations reserved after October 1st - one at Desert Springs II, one at Kauai, and the third at Shadow Ridge in Palm Desert. But others reported being told that Abound Points were no longer offered for presentations - at Newport Coast, Tahoe, Park City, and Aruba Surf Club.

Orlando. $150 or 50,000 Bonvoy no mention of abound.

I asked the concierge desk at GV if my sister wanted to do a tour what the incentive would be and they offered $150 cash. I'm not eligible because I upgraded in August.

Well I guess the gravy train that used to be Marriott owners updates is over. No more $300 gift cards and no more abound points.
This is maybe a little disappointing but, other timeshares have been this low for some time. I do t think we’ve received more than $150 in value for our time with Hilton is over 10 years, which is a major reason they haven’t had the opportunity to present us with the newest and greatest things they have to offer. BGV has never offered us more than $150 in resort credit or to be used against our MF’s. Back when we still owned DRI the typical offer was approx $150. Branson has never offered us much.
I think I can honestly say of this is the new norm, good luck getting us to sit down. My vacation time is worth so much more than &150. Even at $200 and above we haven’t been going unless there is something we want to ask or a unit we wanted to see. Back when we were exchanging heavily we’d tour the resorts we thought we might want to trade into in the future. Now……not so much.

I got $200 at Vistana villages.

I received a $250.00 Visa card at Grande Vista last week. My guests who are not owners received $150.00.

So here’s one for you. Rep called me as I drove down to GO on Sunday. asked what time I’d be there and said ok, since 4-5PM we are switching across the street due due to staffing, blah, blah. I didn’t realize this is a check in where they coral you into the sales office and try to sign you up for a tour. This wasn’t enhance check in. After a 8 hour drive enhance check in would be an expedited affair at the timeshare, not across the street. After check in I went to front desk and saw people checking in. They asked a question and were told “across the street is an enhanced check in but we still do it here too”. So from no on I not only need to decline the presentation but the enhance check in too. I wasn’t given an option and didn’t know to ask or decline. Live and learn. It never ends. You’d think they would get the message after over 10 years of declining.
