Now that's funny!

Thanks! I needed that. :)

Ooooooh my ..... :)

I just love that particular piece of music, but the "lyrics" were just a scream! Wonderful. Just goes to show, that seeing is believing!! :)

Just goes to show how our brains try to make sense out of what we don't understand, like seeing shapes in the clouds, for example.

When I was a kid the Dave Clark Five came out with a song titled "Bits and Pieces." It had a catchy tune and received a fair amount of air time on the radio. I could never understand why the song had that title because I never heard it sung in the lyrics. And why did they keep singing, "sittin' at the cheese stand, sittin' at the cheese stand?"

Or when I was a teenager the Rascals singing "You and me and Leslie groovin'". Which triggered much discussion of the Rascals slipping a lyric about a threesome past the censors, and what type of threesome it was since it wasn't clear if Leslie was a girl or a boy.

Great site for misheard lyrics. I haven't looked at it for years. For a funny story about the origin of the web site name, click on the front page link that says "Click here for the intriguing story on Jimi Hendrix and this mishearance."

Great!! I sang this 2 years ago and was given a translation. Now I know that that translation was incorrect, and this one is less morally corrupt!

Great, but now I'll never be able to listen to this piece again without dissolving into teary laughter.

Wonderful! As a child, I had an album that had a Spanish song on it and not knowing Spanish I thought is said, "When you goin' give us chocolate cake, her mo a sa?" I guess it's easy to hear what you know, but I would never have heard those hysterical lyrics if I hadn't seen the words and illustrations.

That was great! I loved misheard lyrics, but I had never seen a "video" of them before.

If anyone wants to see the real (Latin) lyrics, they're at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O_Fortuna
I'm sure I'll think of the fake ones when I here the song again instead of the real ones, though.

I found another video of the same song (O Fortuna) at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPyAli2xrog
I don't think this other version is as good, although they managed to work in the phrases "Don't sue YouTube" and "It took so long to make this bloody vid."

Since I read this thread, I have discovered yet another way to waste time: watching misheard lyrics videos on YouTube!

There seem to be a ton of these videos with misheard lyrics. Unfortunately, a lot of them are either not that funny, or too lewd to link to here. But, after watching a whole bunch, I did find a couple good ones:

"Rock the Casbah" by The Clash:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NWE3px40_g

"Have You Ever Seen the Rain?" by Creedence Clearwater Revival:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHIop4mhRro

Not surprisingly, the best ones seem to feature songs that had pretty unintelligible lyrics to start with. (Given that, "Smells Like Teen Spirit" sounds like it would be ideal for a misheard lyrics video, and I did find several based on it, but they all have the problem that the misheard lyrics made at least as much sense as the real ones!)

Well, I hope you like the videos I found!

another misheard

way back when I was just dating my h, build me up buttercup came on the radio and he started to sing the chorus.. I'll play the xylophone waiting for you. (I'll be beside the phone waiting for you).

I almost died laughing...

pregnant women

DD is watching Little Mermaid. She is looking forward to the broadway musical production. Anyway, I always hear Ariel singing "pregnant women, sick of swimming, ready to stand." I've looked up the lyrics and I know she is singing "bright young women ..." but it still sounds like "pregnant women" to me.

One of my favorite restaurants plays Indian videos all day. Now I'll have to listen more closely. I hope I can get Benny Lava out of my head.
