I have received the usual solicitation call from a Timeshares Goldline.com representative stating that people are looking for my unit. Yes I knw, the usual BS. They are based out of Searcy, Arkansas with offices all over (I verified this on the web site). Their pitch (basically a modification of the usual) was once they have a buyer, a price is agreed to, a purchase contract is signed, the buyer is screened and approved for financing, escrow is opened then and oly then do you have to put in your closing costs (in this case $2050 - highest I have ever heard of - even for a unit in Orlando area). Price of the sale is totally discretionary on the part of the seller and they only give ranges from low to high. On TUG prices are from $1000 to $7500 for a week. Who would pay more? So I ask, (1) has anybody heard of or had experience with this company either good or bad (2) any ideas what a fair price for a [specific info. deleted] go for. I will be away from this computer for several days so please e mail me mikelafemina@gmail.com. Thanks. I'll pick up on my Blackberry.

Hi and welcome to TUG! :hi:

I hope you aren't even considering this - it's ridiculous!

Since your unit is for sale, you aren't permitted to post the details here, but it's worth about 10-20% of what you paid the developer.

SCAM

This is just another scam. Tell them to take the "closing costs" out of the buyer's funds and they will come up with some bogus reason why they cannot do this. They are just trying to get money from you. They know how badly you (and others) want to sell and they use that to take advantage of you.

Timeshare Goldine

To be honest with you guys, I have used timeshare goldline for my Orange Lake property. The rep Jacob white helped me and he was a very respectable young man. When he called he did mention a fee that i had to pay. I had a 3bed 3 bath and paid $2495. He told me Everything about my property because i had went through a marketing comapony. He told me i'd get my check in about 90 days and it only took about 2 months. Everyone kept tellin me this was a scam but he reassured me that it wasnt another marketing company. When i looked them up online I saw nothing wrong, so I figured I'd try. And he didnt lie. About a month ago i received my check which i was very happy about. If they call i would suggest you @ least listen. I was a sceptic but when i got that check i became a true believer:whoopie:

just an fyi, this is listed at the bottom of their site.

Timeshare Goldline is not a Real Estate Brokerage and does not offer brokering services. Timeshare Goldline is a marketing company that does not directly advertise any specific property.

should tell you anything you need to know about their business model.

I just received solicitation from Timeshare Goldline also. Offering well over what I would expect for a timeshare.

Upon checking it out with the BBB, they give it a D. They only started getting requests for info starting in Jan 2010 (right now) and it appears that the address listed may be a rented mailbox. They are unable to confirm the physical address.

My thoughts are that it is a newly formed spin-off from another timeshare scam trying to capitalize on the lack of info about them. I'd be VERY careful, probably a scam!

Another timeshare resale scammer, be careful!!

I had also received the phone call from this company who told me that they have a buyer who would like to purchase my unit but I have to pay the fee upfront, so they can do the title search and have it closed ASAP. They offered the price that was irresistable, so I thought it was a great opportunity to sell my unit and have some money in my pocket. I had a bad experience with another company before, so I did a little research before I made the final decision to keep my unit.
Please do not trust any of the timeshare resale companies(they called themselves" marketing companies") becuase you should never pay the fee upfront. Any of the fee can be deducted at the closing even the Fedex, title search and etc.

There is no anxious buyer waiting!!!

Don't even listen to their BS...the buyers who are waiting to purchase your unit. Think about it...you are not the only timeshare owner, do not accept any of the phone calls that you are not familiar with because this is the only way to prevent yourself from this kind of scam!!

Sellers guide

First of all I would like to point out the fact that not one bad comment was from an actual client of this company. So I do not think their opions are valid.

I am a successful client from timeshare goldline. They sold my property in 45 days from when I gave them the fee for the sale. I had a really good experiance with this company. My represenative always promptly returned my calls and answered all my questions that I had. This was the fourth company that I used to sell my property, unfortunetly those companys did sell my unit. I was very bitter to the whole industry. But my represenative also gave me valuable information on how to get my money back from those companys, which I am actively doing. They are currently trying to find a buyer for my other property. Which no other company has EVER EVER tried to find a buyer for my property before i gave them money. Which timeshare goldline is actively doing as well. I will repost once I have a second successful sale with this company which I am confident i will. If anyone would like to talk to me respond back to this post with your email address and I will send you my phone number.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Brown

Mrs. Brown - No savvy timeshare owner would even consider using this company, so no, you won't find anyone here who has down business with this company...

What property did they sell for you? How much did you get? How much did you pay them?

Hello & welcome, Mrs. Brown.

TUG-BBS has a tradition of welcoming new participants openly.

TUG-BBS also tends to look sideways at opinions supplied by any newbie on his or her very 1st TUG-BBS entry -- specially when it's a positive opinion about an Up Front Fee company selling an overpriced timeshare, even when that opinion is backed up by a 1st hand story of selling a timeshare for way more than it's worth.

It's not that people here don't trust newbies. It's more the case that people here have heard it before, lots of times, over & over, & it never pans out.

As Prez. Ronald Reagan said (in a completely different context), Trust, But Verify.

Thanks for typing.

Timeshare Goldline

Do not provide them with the credit card information or you will be charged the fee although you still undecide about selling your property. If this company as good as Mrs. Brown had described...why would the owners have to pay the fee upfront. This company can always sell the unit and then collect the fee from the owners.

How much did they charge you?

Hi Mrs. Brown,
How much did you pay Timeshare Goldline for selling your property? How did you find this company...and which were the other companies that you dealing with?

I would not expect a response from Mrs. Brown - her post on Jan. 28th was her one and only visit to TUG, and she is most likely a shill for this company.

It is a SCAM!

Remember when the hot scam trend was to call people and say they won a prize? All you needed to do was pay $200 for the taxes and they would send you your $5000 prize. If you said "take the money off the total of the prize" they had some line about IRS laws and if you argued they hung up.

Well they are back. "We have a buyer, just pay us money and we will handle the closing". Ask them to take the fee out of the closing proceeds and they will have a BS reason why they can not. Tell them you will pay them double their fee if they do it that way and they hang up.

Don't fall for the newbie posters that work for the company.

IT IS A SCAM PEOPLE

Well, it seems like I posted a good thread with lots of responses both here, to my e-mail and phone calls. Bottom line is DON'T DO IT. People have been contacted and have been offered wrong information about their properties, processing costs have been reduced, one minute there was no buyer and then 2 hours leter there was, company would not send a sample contract without upfront money. The best case that I heard was that one TUG member contacted either the CofC or BBB in Searcy, AR (home office of Timeshare GoldLine) and the person contacted personally went to physically check the actual physical address and it was a PO box store across the street from a Super Wal-Mart. I don't post much but I am glad that I did this one. Best of luck to all that are trying to sell and be careful. I know I have been taken in the past and I learned. Be careful.

Timeshare Goldline

can anyone give me advice, just stated this week to get phone calls from the Ark office on offering to purchase my timeshare. What should I expect to happen in the next few days?

Just received my 5th phone from a different person. It was apparent the person was calling from a cell phone. Did the normal routine, yes, the buyer financing has been proven, are you ready to close this transaction. We need for your to post a credit card for the closing fee's $1,650.. When I told him to subtract the closing fees from the check from the buyer, he said it was against the law. I told him, I've checked his company and tried to explain it was normal procedure in any real estate transaction to have all fee's held by the title company doing the closing, he immediately hung up the phone. Yes, is truly a scam!!! Thank you for all the information,.

You should expect them to take your money, and then do nothing!

Once you pay the fee and receive the contract, you discover that the company has only promised to advertise your resort, not to rent/sell it, and they don't mention having a renter/buyer in the contract.

Then, you won't hear anything from them for a long time, and when you contact them, they will tell you that the renter/buyer backed out, but they will advertise your timeshare on their over-priced website.

Finally, when you try to get your money back, they will point out that you signed a contract, and it's only for advertising.

When you try to challenge it with your credit card company, they will tell you that you only had 60 days to dispute the charge, and that it's too late to do anything.

Please read all the posts in this thread, and then DON'T DO IT!

If you pay them some money & get bamboozled, then you'll know for sure, 1st hand. Consider it tuition for continuing education in The School Of Hard Knocks.

If you do that, by all means report back on the results -- good or bad or both -- because a really nice feature of TUG-BBS is learning by vicarious experience (i.e., paying attention to what happens to other people so we don't all have to learn everything the hard way ourselves).

Just curious, Denise (and a couple of you other long-timers)...

Do you have a permanent notepad or saved doc so you can cut/paste your responses into all these questions about scam/resale companies? :ponder: If you don't, then you should. It would save you a lot of typing time as I have seen SOO many posts of this nature that need to be answered. And the answer is generally the same. Maybe have the one general advice, the one about shills, etc. (And it is SO nice of the long-term TUGGERS to continually warn people about these scams and tactics.) :cheer:

In just the few short months I've been reading posts on this site, I can't believe how many threads of this type that I've seen. Hopefully, the people asking the questions who are desparately trying to sell their TS stay around long enough to realise how great the advice is here.
