Travel and Leisure

Anyone else finding the pitch stronger than usual? We are supposably on the 'do not tour' list and yet.... we are being pressured to attend. Say no - they call on your cell and tell you you are scheduled at such and such a time for this 'must attend' owner update. New sales management or ???? And yes, they are using the Travel and Leisure BS, new website coming, etc.... all the lies we're hearing about.

As is often the case the sales and marketing team employs half truths using deceptive language. There is actually a “linking your account” with T&L via TravelUp - which typically requires a developer purchase. TravelUp is basically just another Experian or Travelocity type website with no better pricing than any of the other travel websites out there, exception being for Wyndham hotels, which really aren’t worth staying in to begin with since most of the brands are discount brands that aren’t well maintained IME. There were rumors several months go that TravelUp is now available without a purchase, but when attempting to access the website it failed, but I haven’t tried to access it recently. I will have to dig up that link and try again.

Oddly enough, my Club Wyndham account has been linked with T&L via TravelUp for several years now without a developer purchase. In addition, just the other day I got an email notifying me that one of my WorldMark accounts was linked the same way. Whenever I've looked the prices for flights, etc., have been about the same as what I could get through Orbitz or Google flights at best, at worst a lot worse. There ain't no FOMO fo me as far as the linkage to T&L goes - Wyndham bought a new name, big whoop. It's not like they are pointing to anything that is actually of value....

Was not worried about being part of T&L. Just him saying might not be able use points the same as before. Like I said, I advised him I would take the risk. I did hours and hours of research so was prepared to say no. Can’t imagine those who are not as informed and then buying more to avoid losing access.

They seem to call more often and even on the cell phone. The last trip to Ocean Walk it was extremely annoying. I normally do them just to get the free money but this time I just couldn't and after the third day I was over it.

I wouldn't say that they made up any more idiotic excuses on WHY I should attend, and definitely if they just told me I had to attend, I would probably engage them in a negative way. I'm not playing those games...

But they don't do that, because i'm a priority owner :cheer:

Can anyone give me a good way to tell them no at the sales desk? I am very non-confrontational and I dread it so much. The last time they kept telling me I had to go. I just keep saying no thank you until I have to just walk away.

Walking away is sometimes what you need to do. In fact, there is rarely a need to actually go to that desk. Sure they might have wristbands, but they give you room key cards at the checkin desk. You can bypass the desk altogether. Though you may have someone chase you out the door like they did to me at Grand Desert.

Yes. I tried that once and they chased me to my car.

When i'm not in the mood for their BS, I give them two opportunities politely while saying i'm not interested, if they still persist, I firmly tell them something to the effect of "I don't care what you say, i'm not meeting with you, give me my wristband right now"

If they still persist after that, I ramp up the profanity, get loud, make a scene, that's the last thing they want. Especially if there are other "victims" around the room.

This always does the trick.
