Had my first owners update today with Club Wyndham.

They kept talking about Travel and Leisure(t&l) and that I was not part of it. They stated that most of owners are now part of it. If wanted to be part of it I would need to pay 15k while purchasing some CWA points. If I did not buy I may lose being able to reserve.

Of course I didn’t bite and the seller seemed upset I didn’t take advantage of this one time discount.

Anyone know if there is even a hint of truth not being able to use my deed points to book other Wyndham locations?

It's all rubbish. Travel + Leisure is just the parent company that operates Club Wyndham. You own Club Wyndham you can do the same thing today that you did before Travel + Leisure became a thing related to Wyndham.

TRUTH? From a timeshare salesperson?

As @dioxide45 said above, whatever you were able to do before the new name showed up, you can still do.

I spent hours of research on timeshares and knew sales would basically lie. Even with all the research he was almost had me doubting. In the end I said if I lose all my access so be it. Was done in 30 minutes.

But can only imagine for the people who didn’t do any research and afraid to lose access to something they have already invested so much money into.

I'm curious what the bribe (err gift) was to get you to attend. Trying to find out if they are low balling me vs. what they offer others.

I am at Clearwater , got 3 tickets for umbrella and chairs value total 105 and a ticket to the Aquariam. Really only did it because I knew it would be raining today in the morning. What was yours?

30K WR and $100 Amex. They would have done 30K WR and $200 in Margaritaville vouchers but we wanted cash equivalent.

I just checked in yesterday at Ocean Walk and they had a new angle to try to get me, "your Wyndham Rewards account is not linked to your Club Wyndham account". .

That's a new one

Ok, I don't know what that means and they told me that "you can get VIP upgrades when you book resorts through Wyndhm Rewards". I am skeptical and i'm not letting them touch my account, I didn't have time for the measly $150 they were offering anyway, so I guess I will never know.

Were you at a MVC resort? (Margaritaville)

That’s the intent of the hard sell sales tactics used - FOMO. It’s always FOMO in some fashion. It’s always false. Our general advice here is to simply stop attending sales updates - and yes the sole purpose is to sell you more product - every single time you attend.

No no no. Our presentation was to get our Club Wyndham Membership linked with Travel + Leisure. The guy that signed us up showed me on his computer screen that our member number was in the wrong spot and needed to be moved so we were linked correctly. I asked him to fix it right there but he said it could only be done “up stairs”. So we had to go to get it fixed. The sales guy didn’t do it so I’m sure we will get the same pitch to attend next time.

I'm sure you know this, but there is no such thing as "linking your account" with Travel and Leisure.

It's hilarious trying to listen to them try to talk around this when you ask questions but it's all just a sales opportunity.

Always a full court press to make you buy more points. It is never a benefit to a owner to buy but then again most owners know.

Oh I am well aware. I like to play the game when I am standing at the marketing desk. When he said my Club Wyndham Member Number needed to be moved to the Travel + Leisure member field, I told him to just get on his keyboard and fix it. Sounds easy. Of course he can't do that. No one can do that. There is no need to do that. But I find the game to be interesting and I usually sign up for the presentation, so they get their credit. We are good at saying no.

This is Timeshare 101 for Wyndham salesman. Travel and Leisure is nothing but the name of the main company now, avoiding the terrible Wyndham name.
I hate to say this but they have not come up with a new product or any real benefit since introducing Margaritaville which is kinda crappy.
I understand trying to sell this product but they have nothing new and all they have are lies that get more extreme.

No. It was at Emerald Grande and PBC.

Interesting - I’m assuming the Margaritaville vouchers are for the restaurant chain?

Yes. There is a Margaritaville located at Harborwalk Village.

As is often the case the sales and marketing team employs half truths using deceptive language. There is actually a “linking your account” with T&L via TravelUp - which typically requires a developer purchase. TravelUp is basically just another Experian or Travelocity type website with no better pricing than any of the other travel websites out there, exception being for Wyndham hotels, which really aren’t worth staying in to begin with since most of the brands are discount brands that aren’t well maintained IME. There were rumors several months go that TravelUp is now available without a purchase, but when attempting to access the website it failed, but I haven’t tried to access it recently. I will have to dig up that link and try again.

PlusPartners, TravelUp, Vacation Sidekick. I'm sure there are more. I can't keep them all straight.

LOL. I don't even own these but it took 2 sec to figure out the untruth. Go here
type "TNL" under Symbol. Hit return. THere's your T&L. Corp parent. Unless they added some amazing NEW service (which they never really do), link what, where?

BINGO -> "sales and marketing team employs half truths using deceptive language." You should know they sit around in conf rms brain-storming that exact thing: half truths using deceptive language. Right now, they are prob writing an AI App for that

I asked the salesman straight up, “are you telling me I won’t be able to book anymore reservation if I don’t convert to t&l” and he responds saying not this year but maybe next year. But I won’t unless I pay the Amazing deal of 15k to buy more access points. That’s when i said I will take the risk and basically that ended the meeting.

At the "concierge" desk my wife and I play good cop (me) and she loves to be the bad cop. NOPE not worth it ... she loves repeating that line. We usually maximize our gift. Then when we hit sales they usually give us a very experienced salesman or manager. We have a nice chat. They die when they see what we did resale wise from back in the FairField Wild West days. And then they don't even make an offer and get us out of there fast if we don't ask any questions. My wife kicks me hard under the table if I do ask questions. I have the wounds to prove it. Spousal abuse ... some day I'll report her.

All 100 percent lies. Travel & Leisure is the new name of Wyndham’s parent company. Nothing else changed and this is an elaborate lie made up by salespeople to try to trick people into buying more developer points.
