A Sock and a Shoe or Two Socks First?

I always put on my right sock, then my right shoe, then switch to the other side and put on my left sock, then the left shoe. That's if I'm not wearing sandals :) My sister puts on her socks first, then her shoes. I've always wondered...which way do most people do this?

Fern

both socks, then both shoes. Usually the left foot first, in both cases.

Right foot first, then socks, then shoe, then switch to the left foot...unless I'm going to go sock-less in sandals..then it's which ever foot hits the sandal first :p

Two socks first, starting with the left. The whichever shoe I manage to find first :)

Always socks first, left then right -- (I am left handed, maybe that's why)

Then the shoes, as the shoes are downstairs (bedrooms and clothes are upstairs) in the mudroom/near the garage door, no shoes are worn in the house.... so socks would always have to come first.

Much of an "All in the Family" episode had this conflict discussed.

Archie and Meathead went at it pretty good---with one of the arguments being that the person with a sock and shoe on could go out of the house into the rain and hop around---vs. getting both socks wet!

I still vote for both socks on first.

That being said---wasn't All in the Family one of the absolute BEST shows ever made!!

Both socks, starting with right, then shoes, again starting with right. And I agree, All in the Family was a wonderful show.

Socks first.

Gotta love this place!

You just never know what you might find here being discussed!

Love it!

Left sock, right sock, left shoe, right shoe.

Socks (both), then shoes (both). As long as I get out of the house with two matching socks and two matching shoes, I'm good to go!!

Since this is a fun topic:

The clean sock goes on first.

If the hole in the sock seems to match a toe then put it on the other foot.

Otherwise I'm a left foot on right foot on person and do the shoes the same way.

Now, I will have to keep track of what I do, so that I can answer the question. Never really thought much about it, as long as I ended up with two socks - matching and two shoes.

Left sock, right sock, left shoe, right shoe.

Isn't that obviously the proper way???

I'm amazed that there's even any discussion about this. Putting on socks and shoes seems to me about as fundamental as the proper way to put TP into a dispenser (so that the loose end is over the top and on the side of the roll nearest the user) or the proper way to expel gels such as toothpaste from a tube (collapse the bottom so the product progressively moves to the top). If people can't agree matters such as this, what hope have we to address such larger issues as the proper pronunciations of tomato and potato or whether ghosts are specters or spectres.

Usually right sock right shoe and left sock left shoe however if I'm in a hurry and I grab the left shoe first then it's left sock left shoe and right sock right shoe. I guess what I never do is both socks and then shoes.

I'm a bit of a non-traditionalist, I'm afraid. I put on my right sock first, then my left sock . . . then my left shoe and lastly, my right shoe.

Left sock, right sock, left shoe, right shoe. As I thought about this, I always do it in that order every time.....interesting.....
