Loyalty Search Request

Here are the FAQs for Loyalty Search Requests:

I tried setting up a Loyalty Search for W 57th for Thanksgiving, too. It looked like it might have taken, though I'm not positive where you could go to see whether or not there are active ones - I couldn't find a link anywhere for a list of ones I have going. In any case, since I can decline a match I figured there wouldn't be much of a cost for me. I tried one for beyond the Club Season/Home Resort Season and got an error message.
Thanks. Interesting that they don't show them. Hard to plan without seeing them, especially, when you have several

Agreed. The system seems kind of pointless without being able to set it up in advance, but I've caught desirable bookings when someone canceled in the past through just persistent searching. This might give me an extra edge but does seem like more fluff than substance.
This sounds like it might work pretty well for that.

You mean being fluff? Could be right unless they run cancelled reservations through the loyalty searches before adding them to inventory for everyone.

This is an old thread but I didn't really find anything newer.

Has anyone successfully used a Loyalty Search?

I submitted one and when I manually search the property dates/room codes there is booking availability for one of the room codes I setup the search for but I've received no e-mail from the Loyalty Search to accept/deny.

You cannot view Loyalty Search requests in the HGVC portal and the instructions say the only way to cancel one is to call Support to do it.

I’ve used it. When something is available it’s pre-booked using up your points. It’s viewable on reservation page giving you option to accept or cancel.

Nice thing is I can use it to save a reservation within the 30 day no refund window. I’m not sure how long it’s saved for. I think official term say 3 days to accept/reject but in my experience it’s longer. I know this because they’re suppose to email you when something is available to accept but I didn’t receive an email. By the time I saw it under reservations I already booked something else. The email came several days after I rejected it so HGVC has some issues with their e-mails getting delayed. Has happened a lot for me in regular reservation e-mails as well.

It doesn't mention in the rules guide that enough points need to be available and the reservation is pre-booked.

This is probably my issue. My current reservations are taking more points than I have available for the Loyalty Search I have in place.

Thanks for the help.

You can borrow points for a booking. Are you saying you don’t have enough points even borrowing next year points?

Are you trying for a better room that requires canceling an existing reservation to have enough points?

Carries some risk but you could borrow enough to book and then cancel both reservations and rebook with current points.

I only own fixed home weeks. I do not have enough points yet for 2027 to borrow. I haven't decided if I'm going to cancel my remaining 2027 fixed week reservations for points or deposit those weeks into DEX EU or potentially use one at the property itself.

It was mainly a test of a potential reservation we were thinking about and to see how this Loyalty Search actually works in practice. I have better understanding now. There are not too many details in the HGVC portal or the rules guide on how it works in reality other than you create a search and it will email if it finds matching availability for you to accept or deny.

We have ran tests between the loyalty search vs manually booking and manually booking beat it each time

This looks like the same issue in the newest HGV app version. You used to be able to search and see all available rooms and dates. Now it only shows rooms if you actually have enough points to book them. Pretty sure it’s the same programming behind the loyalty search setup.

This is good to know. It means that those of us willing to do the legwork can pretty much always get what we want. Those OK with "set and forget" can do that as well. But, from my standpoint, another valueless elite item since I would never do it that way.

Cheers.
