Has anyone had any experiences with the Alderwood Group?

I am looking at a resale timeshare and the agent is saying that it is owned by "the Alderwood Group as the management company and they even have free exchanges to about 120 locations." She goes on to say, "you would belong to Resortime for extra getaways".

I looked on Redweek and I don't see information about either of those. I ran a search online and found both companies but if any of you Tuggers have good or bad knowledge or experience with them, it would be helpful.

Thanks

Alderwood Group started out as a management company in Southern Cal. In May 2008, the Inn at Silvercreek switched to the Alderwood company as their management company, and Alderwood formed a colorado company. The board of Twin Rivers in winter park just switched to Alderwood, becoming their 2nd property in colorado.

Alderwood does have an internal exchange department. It is basically just people who find an exchange, it's not a situation where someone has "deposited" a week that's sitting out there.

2 days ago, I needed to find a place in Waikiki for week after next, and it needed to be Sunday - Sunday, not easy to find. I search Platinum interchange, SFX, Trading Places, RCI, II, worldmark, fairfield and had no luck. Then I emailed alderwood, and within a few hours they got me something 2 blocks from beach in the middle of waikiki. All I had to do was give them a week, any week, no exchange fee or guest fee. I can't say whether they pulled special strings for me since I'm on the board. All I can say is that they came through, and no charge. THey don't ever charge a fee. The exchange came through Hawaii Timeshare Exchange, so theoritically I could have done it myself if I had thought to call them. At a minimum, it takes the hassle of calling all over off the owners. We'll see how big a feature our owners consider this. It wasn't a main reason we switched, but it's free, so if it works it's gravy.

We are very excited about the switch to Alderwood, and Philip's experience with the free exchange is great news to every TUG member.

Your resort must agree to participation in the program, and that is all there is to it. :)

Does anyone know how to deed back an Alderwood Group property? I own at NorthBay at Lake Arrowhead, close to Big Bear. I'm also happy to give it to someone. Nancy Marks

I'm also trying to get info about relinquishing, or deeding back to the alderwoodgroup company. I tried sending an email to the company and they never responded.

I don't think Alderwood necessarily takes deedbacks. We own in Colorado at Twin Rivers and owners are expected to find someone to take their weeks. It can be tough, and there are talks of shutting down some units and selling as wholly owned. I would be all for that, especially if I could get out of my obligation to the fees.

I can hardly find any info about this company at all. I read elsewhere how a person could potentially file a quitclaim deed with the county where the timeshare is located.

Quitclaim to whom? There has to be a grantee.

How did you find out about this company? What are they promising to do for you and for how much? What are you hoping to accomplish by using this company?

I don't know. but since answers are few and far between, thats what google said.

1. they took ownership of the original timeshare company .
2. they didn't promise anything, since i could never get ahold of a human.
3. get the hell out of this

For reference, this topic I commented in (posted back in 2006) was one of the few topics about "alderwood group" that I could find using a google search.
According to this other topic https://tugbbs.com/forums/threads/resort-lost-my-weeks-and-is-ignoring-me-what-to-do.163724/
, they are just a management company (or was - who knows anymore)

other info found through google:
Alderwood Group (often operating as Alderwood Resort Management or linked to GetAways Resorts) is a full-service management firm for vacation ownership and homeowners' associations, managing roughly 33+ resorts. They offer the "Alderwood Advantage" exchange program, allowing members to trade weeks with low fees, often powered by Dial An Exchange (DAE).

Founded by Thomas A. Johnson, who also leads GetAways Resort Management.

do you not read my full remarks???
Because I literally said "For reference, this topic I commented in (posted back in 2006) was one of the few topics about "alderwood group" that I could find using a google search. "

but thanks for pointing out the obvious (which I already knew)

For anyone else that happens to look at this topic please see my earlier comment about

At this current stage, my email to alderwood (which I sent at least a year ago) never got a response - I was hoping (small hope) that maybe someone in this forum had maybe had a contact email (because sending an email to the generic email address listed on their company website results in nobody ever replying back)
