We have a deeded week at NCV but we'd like to use our points to try some new resorts. What is your favorite beach-y, family friendly (preferably 2 bedroom) resorts to try?

I have a home in Aruba but before I bought that I stayed at the marriotts there I truly recommend it
It’s one of the finest beaches in the world
The weather is consistently good with the exception of October
Good luck 🍀 on your travels

  1. Hilton Head new beach locations (Grande Ocean, Barony, Surfwatch)
  2. Crystal Shores
  3. Maui Ocean Club
  4. Aruba resorts
  5. Ko Olina
  6. Ocean Pointe/Oceana Palms
  7. Ocean Watch
That's the order but there's not a huge separate between them for peak times. The time of the year. length of stay and any special events for the area would affect our choices for a given trips. Some special events I would specifically avoid like Hell week Aruba. For Summer It's almost exclusively HH, for Winter either the islands or South FL. But I need more time to fly to Aruba or HI and can drive to the rest. I would say that OP is a particular value during summer as it's much easier and possibly cheaper depending on the method used to secure it. They also have the 3 BR option there.

Waiohai is far and away #1. Not only does the beach have good waves and abundant wildlife but it also has a reef with lots of fish that’s great for snorkeling.

2nd place is HHI and KBC.

Not a good beach for us but great if you like the ocean to feel like a bathtub - Aruba, Ko Olina, and Crystal Shores.

And Waikoloa’s A-Bay is nothing to write home about but Hapuna and Beach 69 are two of the world’s better beaches and a short drive away.

It really depends on the time of the year. We preferred off season (Late April-May, Oct-Nov) at Florida beaches with Crystal Shores being our favorite. Singer Island is also great, Oceana Palms for adults, Ocean Pointe with kids. HI resorts are all really nice, but we no longer like to fly that far from the Midwest. Hilton Head is also a favorite in off season (Surfwatch, Barony, Grand Oceane) but is too crowded and hot during the summer. Park City an Vail resorts are also good for summer travel to get away from heat and humidity of the Midwest.

What are you looking for, calm water or waves? We prefer a large beach. We also like waves, so on the east coast Singer Island for Oceana Palms, and Ocean pointe, we like Hilton head for Monarch, Surfwatch, Barony, Grande Ocean. Waiohai in Kauai, Hawaii had the best beach for us in the Marriott timeshares in Hawaii. We enjoy BeachPlace in Ft. Lauderdale because the water is nice but the beach is small and can be crowded. It’s also a walk from the resort to get to the beach

For calmer waters, KoOlina and Crystal Shores, Frenchman’s Cove.

We liked the Aruba Surf Club, but we went only once, in early May, and the wind was so strong, the sand was blowing like crazy. We ended up staying at the pool which was great, a lazy river, but it’s not a beach. I’d recommend not going that time of year.

Very difficult to answer because we have loved them all- I would pick your location based on other activities you want to do!
Fav resorts per location-
Maui Ocean club (new towers with full kitchen for family).
Crystal Shore Marco Island is our top in FL- restaurants and mini golf across the street, close to the Everglades- a favorite!
For Hilton Head we like Grande Ocean (on the beach close to shops, restaurants and sea pines) and Barony (we love this beach).
OceanWatch Myrtle beach is also great for kids- pools and play area on site, lots for families to do in Myrtle beach.

We also loved Kauai Bech club- Kauai is my favorite place, but not full kitchen (restaurants on site and great pool and location) so not sure you will think that is family (it was for us)- another resort might be better.

We loved Aruba Ocean club, but surf club is more popular for kids. Our teen liked Ocean club- bigger beach, less crowds.

We weren’t crazy about Palm Beach area- we didn’t find much we wanted to do in the area but Ocean Pointe was great.

Heading to NCV for the first time this fall!

NCV is a fabulous MVC…We were there in late October years ago…the property is gorgeous..beautiful pool..the villas are nice and depending on the building you are assigned…the views of sunsets over the Pacific Ocean are awesome….lots of things to do in the area…plenty of upscale restaurants in the area…imo Newport Beach is the most upscale and beautiful city we have visited in California…highly recommend.

We own at NCV(20 years now)and have gone almost evey year. Honestly, the only places we have been that don’t make us wish we were at NCV are the Marriott Hawaii timeshares…specifically MOC and Waiohi, and even Kauai Beach Club…I just love Hawaii. We haven’t stayed at the Westins, so I can’t comment on them, although the snorkeling right in front of them in Maui is awesome. We went to Ko’Olina last year, and while I liked it, the rest of the family preferred the other island timeshares.
We went to Oceana Palms a couple of years ago, and while the room was great, we didn’t care for the surrounding area. And we found ourselves wishing we were at NCV😆. I love to swim in the ocean, and that for me is the only negative about NCV….I like the water warm, so FL and Hawaii were good for that. Now I’ve never been to the Marriott time shares in SC, or Crystal Shores. Maybe I’d feel differently about them??? Who knows?! We usually keep our timeshare stays in the US, but have been to Costa Rica at Los Suenos and while it was fun(we ziplines, and went to Tortuga Island) and beautiful, we probably won’t return.

If you get a minute DM me some of your suggestions.
I know there is lots of info on these boards so I will search before we go but would welcome your suggestions and I don’t want to get this thread off track.

In order, and just my personal preference for the ones that I've visited.
  1. Grande Ocean
  2. Barony - Ocean Front/side
  3. Monarch
  4. Surfwatch
  5. Ocean Pointe
  6. Ocean Watch
  7. Oceana Palms
  8. Crystal Shores
  9. Beachplace Towers
  10. Ko Olina
I love Newport Coast Villas, but don't really consider it to be a beach resort. People are going to hate that I have Ko Olina at 10, but I just didn't like it. Too busy and crowded on a man made lagoon. It's also probably because I stayed on a non-marriott condo with great views at the Kapalua resort the week before and there was no comparison....plus I had full access to the Ritz Carlton.

1. Waiohai
2. Waiohai
3. Waiohai

4. Maui
5. Maui

6. Ko Olina
7. Newport Coast

Never: Kauai Beach Club

  1. Hilton Head new beach locations (Grande Ocean, Barony, Surfwatch)
  2. Crystal Shores
  3. Maui Ocean Club
  4. Aruba resorts

I am going to Hilton Head SurfWatch in Auguest. I cannot imagine the beach better than Hawaii but OK I will see myself.

My list wasn't about the best beach but the best beach resort. The Atlantic beaches are not white soft sand like the Gulf or Aruba. But the area is a very comfortable blend of greenery and muted tones with a lot of moderate priced great restaurants. But I think you'll like the overall feel. Grande Ocean is our favorite, there next week. Barony vs Surfwatch depends on how I reserved. For an exchange I prefer SW, for a direct reservation I prefer Barony as long as it's not Garden View. I do think the separate from the beach is a bit of a challenge at SW though.

Got it. So the beach is less of consideration then SurfWatch 3-bed should be the best which I’m going to! Lol.

The beach is fine, really good but it's more a a hard beach like Daytona beach. It's just not the fluffy soft white sand of the gulf. We like SW but the separation from the beach is a negative as is the relative distance to the beach. But it's all relative, stand alone we'd love SW, we just like Grande Ocean better. First world problems though and I do think SW feels a little more relaxed than the other 2 newer resorts. We do love HHI in general as well. We like the plethora of very good to great restaurants, the aesthetics of the island without high rises, neutral colors, businesses more behind trees, etc. Only one neon sign if it's still even present. It's probably a nightmare for many of the businesses though to deal with the regulations.

Keep in mind that NCV weather is usually clear and moderate with no humidity. If you visit Hilton Head or Florida beaches in the summer, they will be hot, humid, and crowded.

Felt more like a hotel on a public beach than a resort. Just a giant pool and not much else.
KBC is a fine place for a jumping off point to explore the island, given it's somewhat central location and we actually liked the general area around the resort. And it's perfectly nice as a hotel/resort. Pool is great, restaurants are decent/fun'ish, beach is good to look at and looks nice but isn't the same as elsewhere. But we got some great art at the art shop there. When we go back to Kauai we won't target KBC but I won't say no if it's the only thing available on a trade.

If you like it that is great ( and better for those of us that don't). KBC seems to be the most available Hawaii MVC, and personally I think there is a reason.
