There is an 8160 point contract at The District on eBay right now. The seller is paying most of the fees, so it looks like a good deal for someone. Opening bid is $1 and there are no bidders yet.
I am not sure why anyone would want to own at The District. It is high MF/pt and typically easy to book unless they go there often and want lounge access...but other than that, I don't see any reason to own there. There is an 8160 point contract at The District on eBay right now. The MFs are relatively good for bHC points compared to those in NYC, at least for the platinum weeks. Of course, the value of that depends on the fungibility of bHC points.I am not sure why anyone would want to own at The District. bHC MF/pt tend to be much higher than HGVC MF/pt. I can book The District with HGVC points within 89 days via the HGV portal or further out via RCI so unless it is for lounge access or the HH 1:32 conversion, then I would be reluctant to own there. The MFs are relatively good for bHC points compared to those in NYC, at least for the platinum weeks. that is true...if you aren't already Elite Premier or in Max.Also the ability to purchase AI for unlimited free reservations.
Cheers.
Yup. And many of us have not sprung for the direct purchase price or purchased on Scotland in order to receive status.that is true...if you aren't already Elite Premier or in Max.
or bought a NYC or The District resale...or some others, that have accidently triggered Max.Yup. And many of us have not sprung for the direct purchase price or purchased on Scotland in order to receive status.

I haven't read in detail, but I thought that the "accidentally triggered Max" was only happening as a downgrade to people who had Elite and were getting shafted, not never-had-any-status sum like us.or bought a NYC or The District resale...or some others, that have accidently triggered Max.
I wouldn't use it for the 1:32 conversion - The District platinum is ~$0.14/pt, which works out to $0.0044/HH pt; gold would wind up being ~$0.0062/HH pt. It's not terrible but not great when compared to nominal values for HH pts of $0.0063 (I've done much better using them but that's what they seem to be worth based on the world wide webs sites that provide valuations). My comment was based on the fungibility of bHC points, which would let an owner make a reservation at a different bHC resort (e.g., the NYC ones) they own in the home resort period.bHC MF/pt tend to be much higher than HGVC MF/pt. I think that it has happened randomly for anyone...not just elite. I think the elite premier folks don't want it though...and they are very unhappy about the switch.I haven't read in detail, but I thought that the "accidentally triggered Max" was only happening as a downgrade to people who had Elite and were getting shafted, not never-had-any-status sum like us.
In any event, yeah, luck and "bank error in your favor" are great, but not a solid strategy.
Maxel Tov, though, to those who got so lucky.
Cheers.
to me, basically none of those conversions make sense when you do the math. It may be able to come close to making sense if you have a very low MF/pt, 1:32, and use the 5 nights for 4...maybe.I wouldn't use it for the 1:32 conversion - The District platinum is ~$0.14/pt, which works out to $0.0044/HH pt; gold would wind up being ~$0.0062/HH pt. Pretty much agree with the sentiment. I have found a couple of hotels that would yield good value, mostly in the Waldorf Astoria or SLH brands, but there isn't really a compelling case for buying a timeshare to use as anything besides a timeshare.to me, basically none of those conversions make sense when you do the math. I believe that eventually, everyone will be Max and there will no longer a Legacy system. The old Elite status will be converted into the corresponding Max Tier level. It will be too difficult for HGV IT to keep up and it will be more cost effective to just make everyone Max. I don't think that it will happen soon, but as more and more people purchase new and the Legacy owners don't upgrade, it won't be worth the while to have 2 separate systems. Eventually, that $100 increase in club dues will make it worthwhile once all of us Legacy owners show that we aren't purchasing. Throw in the DRI/HVC increase in dues and you have a constant, every year money maker.I think that it has happened randomly for anyone...not just elite. I agree...but they may have to hire some more interns to make it work...I believe that eventually, everyone will be Max and there will no longer a Legacy system. +1 hereI agree...but they may have to hire some more interns to make it work...
the club rules say that elite and Max can end anytime with or without notice.
I guess that we need to continue to build the number of elite members to make sure that they see it as a worthwhile subset of owners....versus a dwindling one.
+DeX (via CL)...Elite Premier brings a lot more than just free reservations though....
