Location
The Land of Ice and Snow
Resorts Owned
HGVC: The Flamingo, The Boulevard
The owner of the Golden Nugget bought the land in front of Polo Towers (The Travel Lodge) and is putting up a 46 story casino resort. It will seriously impact the view of Polo Towers and somewhat impact the view from Elara. It’s supposed to be very luxurious in line with the owners luxury hotel in Texas. There’s also a new 4 story mall going up next to the new casino (where the Hawaiian Marketplace currently resides). Going to impact Polo immensely with view and construction noise. I hope it doesn’t impact Elara as they build this monster.

A casino? In Vegas? Now there's something that's been sorely lacking :D

Cheers.

It’s going to impact some of the views from Marriott’s Grand Chateau as well. We like staying at both Elara and the Grand Chateau, but we knew something was going to be built on this property at some point.

Best regards.

Mike

Another 46th story casino with their own shopping mall. Vegas is becoming liked Orlando, Florida.

This is a project by Landry's Hospitality Brands, owned by Tilman Fertitta. The hotel mentioned is most likely the Post Oak Hotel in Houston.

Yes, that’s the name. The rendering I saw showed it’s going to be very narrow and deep, going right along strip all the way back to Polo Towers. It’s going to block the south strip view of Elara, but Polo Towers view of the strip will be completely blocked.

Thanks for sharing. It may effect some of the Elara south side views of the strip but that was never a great view. Will still see the airport and beyond.

The Travellodge was an eyesore and there were sketchy people in the parking lot so this will be an improvement. Grand Chateau strip views will be more impacted and Polo will be boxed in. IMHO...Polo was already overshadowed by GC.

In the 2022 annual meeting presentation document of the Hawaii Collection, there is this image:

I don’t think that is the plan. Per the filings and approval, the casino resort is going to be 46 stories and very luxurious. Tillman Fertitta is the owner.
That last photo is only 5 or 6 floors tall. It is not a 46 stories building.

I'm not familiar too but this is the current satellite view

So I suppose it's this:

That’s the new luxury mall being put in where the current Hawaiian Marketplace is located. While having that 46 story casino next door will block the view of PT, it might be nice to have that casino next door. I like that it’s not owned by Caesar’s or MGM. I worry about The Cosmo after MGM bought it back. They are the ones that ran it into the ground to begin with.

It will make walking to the south end of the strip easier with the casino and mall. Not being in the afternoon summer Sun will be nice.

Where are Polo Towers guest going to park, looking at that last photo?

Maybe the new luxurious building is going to be 23 stories complex in a two tower complex building; with a huge foyer in the middle of the two towers.

As per this (https://clark.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=11298085&GUID=2BE0A664-99C2-440C-86F4-A53AA5478589), it will be between 3725 and 3735
So it will be in front of the Marriott's Grand Chateau and beside the Polo Tower but will hide the view of the Polo Tower in the north direction. So, the image I posted before looks like another project.
The building in front of Polo Tower is 3743 and the Polo Tower is 3745 South Las Vegas Blvd as per Google Map.
I found the clark.legistar.com link from https://www.constructiondive.com/ne...w-las-vegas-strip-resort-construction/634595/

It’s not the first proposed project for this location and, knowing Vegas, won’t be the last. I think the last proposal was for an Elvis themed project. I think this one stands a better chance.

one of the lower level reasons we deeded back our Polo Towers units was the various proposals to redevelop the land beside and in front of Polo Towers. There use to be an easement that stated nothing higher than four stories could be built between Polo Towers and LV Blv, but at one point DRI was negotiating selling those rights, which would screw Polo Towers owners over pretty good.

So far nothing has ever happened. Maybe this project will be the winner.

looking at the maps, I think the biggest impact may be to Marriott’s Grand Chateau as far affecting the view.
