Can you explain what they are changing? I’m not familiar with how Polo is laid out.

Hawaiian Marketplace and all the little cheap crappy tourist shops will be replaced with a 4 story shopping mall in front of Polo Towers.

Been in Vegas all week. Saw the Polo Towers. See MGC on the map. Have yet to see MGC in my travels. Sort of like it's in camo.

looking at the maps, I think the biggest impact may be to Marriott’s Grand Chateau as far affecting the view.
Sounds liked we need to book something at the MGC, before this new hotel and casino is built.

Sounds liked Vegas is going to eliminate those crappie tourist shopping stores.

I’m sure the same was said about the last one that didn’t happen.

Could very well be. As we barrel toward a recession, it may grind to a halt.

The person behind this project does have deep pockets and is a Vegas owner already. The Fountaine Blue was the opposite. The owners had financing issues and had to seek investors multiple times. Who knows?

A lot of the Vegas builds coming up now were planned for 2007-2008 and were halted by the recession. Wouldn't be surprised at all if this build gets delayed indefinitely as recession 2023 approacheth.

Staying at Elara this week and the lot has been cleared and work is definitely active.

Here is a view from Elara 55th floor south, looking towards the Strip. You can see Polo Towers center, and all lots between Polo Towers and the strip being cleared for... Something.

Lots going on at the Elara, aside from the perpetual 58th+ floor bHC construction.

The old lounge area across from the lobby bar, adjacent to the suite shop, has been walled off and under construction for some time, at least since I was last at Elara in February. No one has said for sure what the remodeled lounge area will look like, but I've heard that it will include a larger suite shop and a "VIP" (bHC?) Check-in area.

Featured on the wall of the construction area is a giant rendering of what the 1BR Premier bHC suites will look like. Can attest, I was able to walk through a completed unit during our last update. Very similar in appearance to the suites at Liberty Place. Will take a pic next time I go by.

Where are Polo Towers guest going to park, looking at that last photo?
If you stay on the middle strip do you need to park anywhere. It is like getting a car in Waikiki or Manhattan. You get a unit in those locations to enjoy THOSE LOCATIONS. Otherwise stay at locations off the middle of the strip or off the strip entirely and drive to the circus. There are loads of locations out of Wailiki; or Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island or New Jersey that are easier to drive and park in than the center of the action.

They're doing a bunch of work for the Formula One racing. Building an entire building complex to the northeast of Elara. We were there in late March and they had a lot of work to do. The signage along the walls on Harmon mentioned the race, so this may be related as well.

We are back in early October, so will look at progress then.

Cheers.

F1 construction is definitely in full swing. The course will run down the Strip, take a left on Harmon, and the pits will be in lots to the east of Elara, so this place is going to be ground zero for the race. Congrats to anyone who was able to snag a room that weekend (we weren't) - besides plane tickets are RIDICULOUSLY expensive unless you're planning to fly out later in the week following the race.

They are also repaving the streets along the entire route of the race, so factor in traffic delays in the meantime.

Beautiful. We can only dream that we could get this type of unit for Caroline's Special 21st Birthday. I did call and told them we were bringing our daughter who we have guardianship of for her 21st Birthday. Don't need a handicapped unit as such but she is physically/mentally challenged. Agent said she would make a note on our reservation. It's a 2 bedroom sleep 6 RCI exchange.

Regardless of what eventually gets built, I’m just glad the nasty old travel lodge and Hawaiian marketplace are gone. Even an empty lot kid better than those two

Good riddance. Next in line: Grand Bazaar Shops near Cromwell/Bally's.

Reposting here - the floor-to-ceiling construction wall in the Elara lobby was taken down, so we can see what lies behind. Appears to be a greatly expanded suite shop, likely intending to compete with the ABC Stores in Miracle Mile shops.

They're moving quickly. By the morning after this picture was taken, the ceiling was already painted and crews were installing camera, lighting, and speakers in the ceiling.
