How to get out of a paid in full BG

Does anyone know how to get out of a paid in full Bluegreen timeshare?

If it’s paid in full, list it for resale, find a buyer and then transfer it to them. The transfer process costs $500 (which the buyer or you can pay) and then the buyer would take it over.

Alternatively, you can see about selling it through/to Pinnacle but I’m not as familiar with that process.

What if I can't find a buyer or someone to take it over?

Do you know anything about Festiva or Stonebridge Village? I need to get out of those too.

Depending on what you own, you should be able to find a buyer but it may take some time for the right person to look. I would give that a try first. Just know that you may find it hard to make a profit but at least you will be rid of it.

In the meantime, option two, you could contact Bluegreen and explain the hardship and see if they have any solutions, it’s doubtful but always worth a try.

And then option three, depending on your age and credit situation, you could just stop paying. Take the risk of them hitting your credit for non-payment but some people have no use for credit and don’t care… it’s not a great option but an option nonetheless.

If one bought from the developer, it is safe to say there won't be any profit to be made and a huge loss should be the expectation.

We are told that Bluegreen does accept deedbacks. If you type 'Bluegreen Deedbacks' in the search window above, you'll get several responses of how to do it and whom to contact.

Since you are a Guest, you can list it in the Bargain Deals subforum for free, and if you join TUG ($15 yr) you can list it for sale or rental in the Marketplace.

Where is your home resort?

We are in the midst of doing our homework/research of adopting into Bluegreen.
(Our family would like to be able to get a BG level that would get us enough points for a 1 week stay for a 2br.)

Can you please describe what type BG ownership you are trying to rehome?

Of course we want to make sure all documents go through the legal process of transfer, would like to use LT Transfer.

Bluegreen isn't bad per se, but its value once you would have exceeded the rescission period would drop by somewhere around $42K. You can pick up a resale Bluegreen for a price ranging from nothing to a few hundred dollars. I do NOT know the restrictions BG places on resale owners, but it looks like you are doing your due research and will find that out.

Good on you for not getting sucked in.

It looks like on eBay people have been bidding on BlueGreen time shares and have been winning them and then refunded from sellers. Blue green apparently has a right of first refusal in place for anything being sold for less then 20 cents per point.

Then 20 cents per point becomes your starting point. And you'd need to hope BG is still exercising ROFR when you were ready to sell off what you own, so you don't end up giving it away yourself at that point.

That said, Bluegreen isn't the only horse in the timeshare race. It may be that the presentation made the idea of timeshare appeal to you, but that doesn't mean you have to settle on the system whose presentation got you interested.....Most here will tell you to really research every system and apply them to how you would realistically vacation, choosing the best option for yourself. You can learn more about every resort and system than you would ever have thought you would want to know right here on TUG.

The people who bad mouth timeshares probably bought the wrong one. You are at least asking questions upfront. As @Ty1on said, there are many options out there other than BG. My suggestion, do your research but also rent from owners of BG and other name timeshares. You can find cheap rentals on the last minute forum. After you have sampled the buffet you can fill your plate with whatever you liked best.
