Despite my most careful planning, seems my Road of Life has other plans

So I finally got my other half day to follow guidelines as I have been and life happens. Most probably I will need to venture to my eye doctor today or tomorrow to make sure my retina is ok.

I had this weird rarer occurrence with my eyes about 7 years ago where I had bleeders due to a veinl being attached to my retina and vitreous. When my vitreous started naturally detaching, happens as we get older, there was a tug of war and it would bleed at times blocking my vision. I went to the doctor multiple times a year. About 3 years later I was just in for a checkup and I had a hole in my retina and had to have immediate laser surgery. The last 3 years no bleeders, as the vein became lax, so last year my doctor said see you in two year unless you have a problem. He said the chance of getting a bleeder again was so small but he could not say never.

So earlier today it happened, a bleeder after all these years. I call it the spider webs attacking, it is the view in your eye. It wasn’t massive but some lines, cloudiness and spots I see now after the spider webs diminished. Called the doctor and was told they would call me back soon but was told almost certain that the doctor would want me to come in either later today or tomorrow to check my retina.

I was hoping to wait and see but realize that is just wishful thinking. All this being careful to stay safe and now I will have to go into the county of NC that has the most virus cases in the state. I was told most staff is working remotely and only patients that need shots and emergencies like mine are seen.

My grandmother use to say “Mann Tracht, Un Gott Lacht” its meaning, “Man Plans, and God Laughs.” Despite our most careful planning, the Road of Life is unpredictable.

Just an update: I appreciate the support but please no sad emoji. I don’t want to feel sad. I want to get my mindset in a good place :love::):thumbup:

Yikes girl! I’m glad you are calm and are getting treated. Try not to worry...most people are staying away from doctor offices unless absolutely necessary so I bet it will be a lonely experience. Wishing you a positive outcome and good health.

I am pretty calm. What needs to be taken care has to be taken care of. I had come before to realize this virus is here for awhile and we have to figure out how to adjust. Risk is everywhere even when food and packages are delivered to our home even though it probably minimizes it.

My mom is in the same boat. She has no choice but to go get her macular eye shot early May, the doctor pushed it out as far as possible. Mom is in NYC and will have to get in a taxi which does worry me. I can get in my own car.

I know what I need to do, but the reality is the nurse putting drops in my eyes and the doctor will be just a few inches away from me in distance. Let the force be with me and protect me!
 
Panina, I feel your pain and your apprehension. There is nowhere to go but forward. Take your mask and your hand sanitizer and venture forward. I had to go out today for a shot of Neupogen. Same tomorrow. Trying to raise my white blood cell count - for a possible chemo treatment on Monday. I have been refused 4 times out of 10 because of low counts. Pretty discouraging. But there is no alternative.

Just trust that your facility is staffed by professionals who know how deal with these new circumstances. They know their jobs. Best of luck.

Thank you. What I am going through is nothing compared to what you are. Do you have many treatments left? My thoughts, prayers and love is with you.
 
Oh Panina, I'm so very sorry that this happened to you again and for it to happen at this snapshot in time just plain sucks... I'm keeping you in my prayers and I know how careful you are... Much Love
 
This is a tough time to really NEED a medical professional. They are all stretched soooo thin with the CV19 catastrophy. Here's my tale.

Faithful readers might remember my Germany pacemaker installation almost 2 years ago. Then last Summer they wanted to upgrade it to one with an onboard defibrilator. Well, a couple months ago an area above it started to turn pink and itch. The pinkness turned to redness and the itch turned to pain. I raised the alarm to the cardiologist a couple weeks ago and was put on antibiotics and told it would 'have to come out!' Meanwhile nobody can go near the hospital unless they have CV19- the place is exposed and if one isn't, there is no reason to compound the problem.

So, long story short- I'm going to Salt Lake City to a renowned heart center where this whole shebang will be removed, and after 'a few days' (whatever that means) they'll implant YET ANOTHER PACEMAKER in my right side! If you think I'm not nervous about this, you're wrong!

So wish me well. You won't get rid of me all that easily, I'll have my various digital devices along, so I might as well share the misery with TUG. Whatever happens, I'll be traveling along with all of you when we all get to do it.

No, no.... I'm fine. It's just that I would rather not be doing this. Just like you. I have had 8 treatments, 2 of which were in Virginia. They have lower thresholds for WBC in Va. than they do in New York. I HATE needles, and I hate "failure." It sucks to go in and have blood drawn, then wait 1/2 hour until they say, "No - not today..."

But, I am healthy and look forward to when this is done. You will too. It is the "exposure" to danger that makes it so complicated.

Good you found somewhere to get it done, it is a need and it must be done. I will keep you in my mind and prayers.
 
Appointment 8 am in the morning. My doctor is not back until Monday so seeing his associate in the practice.

If my bleeders get worse need to call as they have doctor on call 24 hours.

Meanwhile 3 different times had it so far. I once had it where it settled and all I saw was white fog with lots of tiny black dots, that would be moderate bleeder, afraid this one is moderate as fog setting in with dots. Remember it took weeks to see out of the eye. My doctor said a heavy bleeder is when it goes dark

The good news is my other eye is good and I can write this with my bad eye closed.

My issue does not rate anywhere close to these, but I thought I'd share:

My orthopedist said he could order an MRI, but wouldn't be any point.
"I use MRI's for surgical decisions, and I can't do surgery at this time."
So, come back when things open up and we'll see where we stand.

@Panina, Good luck! On the positive side, at least you know what this is, and what to expect. Here's hoping it all gets fixed quickly, and to your satisfaction.

@Passepartout, you and I have kicked this one down the street a few times. I'm here for you, dude. Get this fixed. We have plans. ;)

@Panina So sorry to hear about your eye problems. I know it can be nerve wracking to go to see a doctor at this time. I am glad you are taking care of it. Also hope your mom gets her shots soon. Stay healthy and safe!

Praying for you! Wear a mask and you’ll be ok. Avoid touching your face and wash wash wash those hands. Hope you’re ok
 
Yikes, that is our fear, to have something out of left field that sends us to the hospital at this time. Passepartout and Panina, wishing you speedy recovery and healing thoughts.

Logically thinking, if a vaccine is a year away, how many of us didn’t have a medical need in the last year? The odds are many of us will need to venture to a doctors office or risk will not only be the virus.

From the past, I know I will need to go for followups at least a few times.
 
@Panina and @Passepartout, I'm praying for you both. It's such a tough time to have medical emergencies, so I pray for your protection and for the focus and alertness of your doctors. The docs and nurses are dealing with battle fatigue, so we need them to do well by you.
