The Amazing Kreskin says, it depends on what types of points packages they are. All but a few Club Wyndham accounts are billed monthly, a few annually. Fixed Week Conversions are billed ahead, so that they are collecting 2016 maintenance fees this year, and UDI is billed as you go.

Of course, I have no idea what you were actually planning to ask.

On the scale, it would be interesting to know since one is depositing more than a typical say, a 2bdrm, 154,000 points vs a 205,000 points required for RCI. One would assume you would have a better than average trading power. Question is that true, say at Marriott level??

Trading power doesn't come in to play at all in RCI for Wyndham deposits. You either have enough points to get what you want, or you don't.

If you deposit 315,000 points you could then make 2 exchanges for say a 2 bedroom in prime for 210,000 and 1 bedroom in high season for 105,000. You would then have 5,000 points left over in RCI.

Marriott trades in II.

Wyndham RCI corporate account trades according to a FIXED GRID ... so many points (like 126,000) gets you ANY 1bdr unit. The FIXED GRID is in the member's directory.

Also ... if unsure or you THINK you know... get out the Member Directory and look it up to verify IF you have the right answer.

You could use DVC as a good example. The points chart would indicate what accommodations you would get there. Points isn't the issue with DVC, availability is.

Now I hate to try question 2 again. Anyway, you credit pool not deposit in RCI if you want to make a reservation up to 3 yrs. after you pool at a Wyndham resort. $39 much less than RCI fee. Sound OK?

I dont understand your question, in fact I dont see a question (no ? anywhere) and in a previous post of yours, I dont understand your reference to Marriott. Marriott is not affiliated with RCI

Credit pooling and extending your points for use in Wyndham for $39 is correct, but that is completely different than the OP's question about depositing them to RCI.

Once in RCI, they follow the fixed grid to exchange in to any available unit from any resort/developer that you have enough points deposited for. If looking in RCI for an exchange in to another Wyndham, you would have to wait until what you're looking for is deposited to RCI (if it ever is at all).

There are only a handful exchanges that are more favorable to make through RCI. I tend to look at depositing Wyndham points to RCI as a last resort.

and you are right. The price for a 2 bedroom is the same whatever the resort. That makes some RCI trades a bargain and others not so much>

There are also sales that RCI runs from time to time that can increase uour purchasing power

I don't know about that .. in Paris, France one could rent a 3 meter by 6 meter closet as the bedroom in an one bedroom apt for 1500 Euro per month.

To clarify with real names, a 1 Bedroom Disney Animal Kingdom and a 1 Bedroom Grandview Las Vegas would cost the same number of points.

The problem is that there are no DVC available and lots of Grandviews. This is why RCI should be a last resort.

I think the gist of the original question was: how do the trading power of Wyndham points deposited into RCI compare to the deposit of a Marriott caliber timeshare.

Others pointed out the obvious problem with his question, which is that Marriott does not trade with RCI.

To answer what I think the question is: I have units where points are deposited (Wyndham and Hilton, also Shell) with their respective trading companies RCI and II. I also have units where the deposit is size based in both RCI and II (1 bed, 2 bed, etc). I much prefer the points based exchanges because there is no guess work. As someone else mentioned, you either have enough points or not. You don't have to try to guess whether your deposit will have enough "power". It's much less stress inducing for me.

I thought I would repost your original questions. So #2 can be re-read for those who didn't. ronparise has the right answer. Had nothing to do with Marriott.

I have noticed that with RCI (using Wyndham Points) and the deposit grid that there are some very good values. Some much better than others. For example, a 1 or 2 bedroom at one resort (in the same location) booked for the same calendar dates may cost much less at one resort versus another. How? Well, different resorts classify their demand seasons differently. Interesting right? So, sometimes you can get a whole lot more for your vacation maitenance fee dollars using your points than you might think? The same holds true for Wyndham properties. Check your Club Wyndham Plus Member's Directory and look at point charts for various weeks in the same general area.

With RCI, you might see one resort (in the same general area) have High season with lower points needed to book. At another resort that has that week as Prime season and requires more points.

Additionally, Wyndham point charts can vary at the same resort for room sizes, view or obstructed view, high/ low floor or building. There is no standard point structure or chart for Wyndham accommodations. At some Wyndham resorts using point charts you may notice that newer Wyndham resorts often cost more points than the older properties. Each Wyndham owner can use their points and have a different overall cost than the next. If I own a deed at a specific resort or have CWA with lower maintenance fees than you do, and book at a location that has higher maintenance fees for the same room type. I am saving money. VIP Wyndham members get % discounts and free upgrades (if available)?

High award rated resorts or low star rated properties do not matter with RCI and the Wyndham points you use to book your exchange. You decide the value and if you want to book something? Read resort reviews. The Wyndham grid and how the resort classifies the demand season is what is used to determine the RCI points exchange using your Wyndham points currency. Some exchanges are much better than others. Compare point exchange vacations with RCI extra vacations to determine the better value. Sometimes paying cash for the vacation is a lot less - plus you do not use your points or pay an exchange fee. If you can get the vacation with RCI Last Call - you get a week's vacation for under $300 and no points are needed. An ongoing search is often needed to get those high demand exchanges. You get put into the RCI wait list to hopefully get matched up.

About the % discount, and upgrade, do you get the confirmation immediately, or at a certain period, or window?
