Your Favorite Hilton Resort?

For those that have traveled a lot, and stayed in many Hilton resorts and hotels, what resorts are your favorite & why? We are trying to decide where to try...maybe we will rent some points first. Prefer 2BR suites, but will consider others if sleep 5.

Our family has little kids so pools & kids activities good to have either at resort or nearby. I like metropolitan old world style places (Montreal, NYC, Gaslamp San Diego, Barcelona, etc) with art, entertainment and good restaurants, and husband and all of us like mountains, mountain air, and nature. Also we find Vegas fun to see shows, etc, and always stay at Venetian when visiting. We travel about 3-4 weeks out of year.

Is Flamingo Hilton fun for kids too? Any recommendations appreciated as to your favorites, and perhaps how many points we should be looking at for family of 5 to be comfortable?

One of my favorite Hilton Hotels is the Hilton Suites in Ocean City, MD. All Ocean Front, right on the water. Great pool for kids with slides too.

Last year I stayed at the Embassy Suites in Myrtle Beach, Kingston Plantation. Again, right on the water, oceanfront, amazing kids pools with lazy river, slides etc... The property was beautiful too. Although the Embassy was a step down from a typical Hilton or HGVC property, it served its purpose for a family, and the pool fun was fantastic.

I've stayed at the Flamingo. Pools are really nice too, although depending on the age of your kids, not sure if Vegas is the best choice.

My favorite is Hilton Hawaiian Village, although I know a lot of people don't like its size. The property has everything from a great beach to penguins and almost everything from several pools to restaurants to shops to an ABC store with groceries for those who never want to leave the property.

I don't travel to Hawaii in the summer, so I don't know how it is then. But I've been there with conventions on site and never felt like it was too crowded.

The location is good for walking to restaurants, a major mall, lots of other shopping, and the heart of Waikiki. You can rent a car to explore the rest of Oahu.

I love Hilton NY on 5th Ave in NYC stayed there about 5 years ago with grand kids,they loved it spend one whole day in central park, walking went on paddle boat in the lake, face painting, zoo, and as of may there is weekend street fair that they love, as about 10 or more blocks are block off from traffic and they can walk freely of course there is toys rus in times square, if you can get the HNYVC , the kids ,you, your husband will have a great time from spring to the fall, and this was all free

Vegas with kids?

I've stayed at the Flamingo. Pools are really nice too, although depending on the age of your kids, not sure if Vegas is the best choice.

We're always taking our kids through Reno on way to Wyoming driving every summer, stay Peppermill, and sometimes to Vegas to meet up with friends from east coast. Kids always seem have fun. They are now old enough to enjoy going to Cirque shows (not Zumanity of course - I don't even think I'm old enough for that one after seeing - way too adult), but they've been to 3 of them now. Seems like the magic shows, etc, would be fun for them too. They are no longer preschool age, so we can do lots of things with them now, and take them many places.

Anything about Vegas that is really that bad for kids for kids to see? Just curious. They loved the pools at places we've stayed in past...like Bellagio, Venetian, and a few others. I always seem to win big on slots while husband watches the kids, and my CPA laughs about that every year as I always have winning W2G form have to provide.

I ask because really curious to check out the Hilton Flamingo. Kids always like it when we get those jacuzzi baths that fit 4 people in our suites in past. Of course, we always get free rooms when we go so at places like Venetian in particular, so if own Flamingo, would miss out on all the free room nights (sometimes upgraded to nice corner suites from time to time).

When my children come with me to Las Vegas, we stay at the HGVC on the Strip because the pool is enjoyable for kids and teenagers and they don't have to walk through a casino to get to their room. It is next door to Circus Circus with all their kid friendly things. When its just adults in Vegas, I prefer HGVC at Flamingo because it is right in the middle of the strip so close to everything. Its amazing how many kid friendly things that there are to do in Vegas.

One of my favorite Hilton Hotels is the Hilton Suites in Ocean City, MD. All Ocean Front, right on the water. Great pool for kids with slides too.

This place looks amazing - just checked on-line for more photos! Seems the set up is wonderful with indoor/outdoor pools, water play area, right on beach, spacious suites. Very nice. Hope someday get chance to take family there. Thanks for recommending.

1. Hilton Seaworld, International Drive or Parc soliel-Disney/cocoa beach/kennedy space center/universal/etc...enough said....nevermind just noticed you already own at DVC

2. Hilton Big Island Waikola, Kings land etc....Kids will love the Volcano National Park and black sand beaches....not metropolatian though..

3. Grand Wailea on Maui...you probably already know about this one as it has unbelieveable pools and beach right there.

This place looks amazing - just checked on-line for more photos! Seems the set up is wonderful with indoor/outdoor pools, water play area, right on beach, spacious suites. Very nice. Hope someday get chance to take family there. Thanks for recommending.

It is amazing. Just a few years old too. The location is perfect. Every room is ocean front. Kiddie pool, adult pool with swim up bar, and indoor pool too. It is expensive to stay during peak season, so I typically use hilton honors points to stay there.

The Flamingo Pool has plenty that kids will like, including little water slides. The Location of the Flamingo is perfect, right in the middle of the strip too

I have been to Maui and big island Hawaii several times, always stayed in oceanfront 4 story condo rental type buildings with elevator, sometimes treehouses (camping), so don't know any of the fancy resorts yet. Husband says not interested in the overcrowded areas of Hawaii like Waikiki. These will be first trips for kids to these places. In few weeks, taking them first time to WDW, but instead of staying at home resort BWV, we're trying out Kidani, as pool there good for little kids, new resort, cool theme too. Maybe next trip will do BWV.

Read that there is some RCI trade limitations trades between DVC and any other timeshare resort in Orlando, but didn't understand exactly what it involves. Something about NO RCI exchanges for DVC resorts if own another timeshare within 30 miles???

Can't wait for kids to see Hawaii. Thanks for recommending and describing these Hilton resorts. Are any difficult to book if don't own there for 2BR & 3Br?

Pre-kids, used to go to Cancun, Alcapulco, Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, Cozumel, etc. Several times had unpleasant experiences in Mexican resorts (theft, kidnapping, illness, etc) so stopped going, but so many seem to rave about Cabo?

Yes, kidnapping in Puerto Vallarta

Yes, a boat tour guide kidnapped me when 19 years old on spring break in Puerto Vallarta, and took me off to remote island off shore. Scariest day of my life, didn't know what my fate was going to be, but I lived, and he returned me to shore. Other than twisting my arm pretty badly bruising it, I didn't have any other injuries. It looked like a legitimate boat tour, and thought others were going to board the boat for the tour of the shore, but he decided to take off with just me that had gotten on the boat tour first. Finally he said "no estoy mal" and took me back to shore after many hours of fighting.

Also, does anyone know about Fiesta American Los Cabos - is this resort good for kids?

We toured through the FA in Los Cabos several years ago while we were staying at the Hacienda del Mar, practically next door. The Fiesta Americana was a beautiful resort, with a beautiful pool area and beach. I'd stay there if going back. Three negatives, though:

1. Staying in the corridor area definitely requires a car. You're a 10 minute ride away from town.

2. The beaches on the corridor can be dangerous at certain times of the year. We were there in Sept, and the beach had black flags out every day (extremely dangerous surf). You'd want to make sure that your kids don't wander into the water during high surf conditions.

3. IIRC, most of the units at FA Cabo are in a highrise built into the hill. There are reports that it can be a long walk to the pool and clubhouse.

In general, the timeshares around Medano Beach may be more kid-friendly. It's a protected cove, so water conditions are never too rough. And it's within an easy walk of downtown Cabo San Lucas.
