You know you have a timeshare addiction when...

Ok - I guess it's time to dust this off again. From a post made on an earlier version of the TUG BBS:

Steve, that was great. Painful, but great. ;)

Another one from the archives:

Thank God I'm a Timeshare Guy
(with apologies to John Denver)

Well stayin’ in timeshares is really pretty grand,
Whether you’re traveling the US or in another land
Listen to this song and then you’ll understand.
Thank God I'm a timeshare guy.

CHORUS:
Well I got me a fixed week, I got me a floater.
I can go to England and be a narrow boater;
Or fish a lake in northern Minnesota
Thank God I'm a timeshare guy.

A timeshare kind of trip is a tonic anytime
While traveling with your family it really works fine
With a bedroom for the kids it’s truly joy sublime
Thank God I'm a timeshare guy.

CHORUS:

When I come home from work and the sun's setting low
I go-online to find places we can go.
Then I go visit TUG ‘cause there’s always more to know
Thank God I'm a timeshare guy.

CHORUS:

I'd search for trades all day if I could,
but the lord and my wife wouldn't take it very good.
So I travel when I can and I work when I should:
Thank God I'm a timeshare guy.

CHORUS:

I wouldn't swap my weeks for tickets or cruises,
I go ask my wife and she always refuses
We just keep our week and forget those other uses:
Thank God I'm a timeshare guy.

CHORUS:

Yeah other folks stuck in the old hotel scene
Lots of other people think that's mighty keen.
Well, folks let me tell you now exactly what I mean:
I thank God I'm a timeshare guy.

CHORUS:

Well, our weeks are all deeded so we’ll have them till we die
And when we’re gone our kids will get them by and by.
We’ve said: Plan lots of trips and enjoy the sea and sky
I thank God they’re timeshare guys.

CHORUS:

My TUGger friends taught how to buy and how to trade.
They taught me how to swap and how to upgrade
They showed me that with timeshare you’ve really got it made.
Thank God for those timeshare guys.

FINALE:
Well I got me a fixed week, I got me a floater.
I can go to England and be a narrow boater;
Or spend a week in Northern Minnesota

[Ready now? Shout it out!!]

THANK GOD I'M A TIMESHARE GUY!

I am fairly new to TUG, but that is the best post I have ever seen. I will be singing your song off key for weeks to come.

Well I got me a timeshare ,
and I've got some high maintenance fees,
but I've got some nice rooms that always seem to please,
beats the heck out of rooms from travelocity,
Thank God I'm a timeshare guy!!!!!!!!!

Excellent!!!! I'll add that verse to the song.

I feel honored. I am like Yoko Ono helping John Lenin write a classic song. Feel free to send me half of your royalties from our song........ :)

...you already own more weeks than you can use and still browse Ebay with the general search term "timeshare", looking @ all 12 pages of listings and get excited with $1 listings at places you'd otherwise never consider but have MF's under $400.

...you start to recognize the frequent sellers on Ebay and know them by name. Worse yet, they know YOURS too!

...when looking at $1 listings which are set to expire in 5 minutes, you open a second window and check the reviews on TUG to see if any are a hidden gem before you let it "get away".

...you "seriously" consider the place even though its a winter resort and the week is fixed in late May.

...your combined MF's rival your monthly house payment, and yet you can justify them as your "month of vacation home"...like YOUR calendar has a 13th month or something!

...you tell the vultures for Tahiti Village camped out just inside Vegas casino entrances you already own in Vegas, and are surprised when they don't just say OK and move on.

DW keeps bugging me to put together a spreadsheet to keep track. Not because I've forgotten any though - because she gets confused.

Which leads to a logical question: how many of us have spouses that:

  1. Are completely baffled at how many timeshares the family owns?
  2. Understand that timeshares can be exchanged but really haven't the slightest interest in knowing how it really works?
  3. Roll their eyes whenever the topic of timesharing comes up in a social setting?
  4. Are extremely happy at all of the wonderful trips and fine accommodations they get to enjoy as the fruits of the addicted ones efforts?

Here's one!

I would add - 5. are not aware of how many timeshares you jointly own!
