There seems to be a lot of information here on Wyndham, but I'm having trouble understanding the Marriot system. Is it worth going through the trouble to explore more, or is Wyndham really the best deal for people looking to purchase on the secondary and get low cost luxurious vacations? It does seem like the Marriot maintenance fees are more substantial, and the buy-in is higher, and that it's harder to get out because they don't have anything equivalent to Certified Exit.

IMHO you get what you pay for. I am sure Wyndham has some nice resorts ( I have only stayed at 1) but they are not equivalent to Marriott properties . YMMV

I agree 100%. I am Wyndham owner and really enjoy my timeshares but they are not the level of Marriott properties. You get what you pay for. Advantage to Wyndham is number of locations. Advantage to Marriott is their quality.

Agree with others here about quality. I think Wyndham is an easier system to use and manage. Marriott has a lot of moving parts with resale weeks having to use II to trade and resale DC points being an expensive travel product.

Marriott does have a deedback program through ARDA Responsible Exit.

For me, it is all about location, location, location. Between Club Wyndham and WorldMark, I am covered for most of the places I want to vacation -- Granby and Pagosa Springs, CO for skiing; Steamboat Springs, CO winter and summer; St. George, UT for Zion NP; West Yellowstone, MT; the Washington and Oregon coast in summer, and many, many more.

I prefer Wyndham because they have more vacation options and they are cheaper. And if you are a VIP owner with a discounted stay, then they will be significantly cheaper. Also, some locations have Presidential units, which are probably superior to Marriott.

Marriotts can be 50% higher in cost, but only like 10% higher in quality.

Beyond the unit, a key difference is that Marriott resorts will be occupied by richer people. This is probably important to some people, and completely insignificant to others. The guy next to you at the Marriott bar or hot tub is more likely to be financially successful.

I think this is more a function of the target market of sales and how the sales function is managed.
