I have a reservation in June for a week. What do you guys think likelyhood of this place being open by then?

If this is the resort you are talking about, in light of the problems relating to the contract pertaining to the power grid, flip a coin. I would go with yes but maybe not much to do in the way of attractions.

Representatives of Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Puerto Rico Golf & Beach Resort report that the resort will remain closed through the end of the year after Hurricane Maria devastated the island.

“Our hearts go out to all those who have felt Hurricane Maria’s devastating effects,” resort representatives said. “We are still in the process of assessing the storm’s impact.”

Hurricane Maria caused heavy damage to Puerto Rico when it made landfall as a powerful storm, prompting Gov. Ricardo Rosello to call it the “most devastating storm to hit the island this century, if not in modern history.” The storm knocked out the island’s entire power grid, and officials have estimated that it could take four to six months until it’s restored.

The first commercial flights began to return to San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) late last week, although air service through the airport remains heavily disrupted. Additionally, the Port of San Juan sustained heavy damage from the storm, with Carnival Cruise Line reporting that repairs to its pier could take weeks. While the Carnival Fascination was able to dock there over the weekend to allow passengers to disembark, the cruise line has canceled several of its upcoming sailings. Royal Caribbean has also canceled Adventure of the Seas’ September 23 sailing out of San Juan.

I was thinking that Wyndham had opened a resort in the Big Bend area of Texas.

I had reservations for Margaritaville in Puerto Rico for mid February. I held out hope for some time because I really thought it might be nice to go and help the economy. But I finally realized that it just wasn't going to be ready by then. I finally re-booked a short stay in Florida because these were bonus points that were going to expire in February. But it was too late to find a full week far enough south so I had to settle for 4 days. My temporary VIP status is up then too so I guess I will never get the chance to stay at one of the Margaritaville resorts. Oh, well, first world problem for me so I can't really complain.

But I am starting to question my luck. I canceled the Puerto Rico trip and booked Florida for February and Napa for late April. And two weeks later California caught fire....

I just got back from southern Yosemite area of CA they had some fires but still enjoyed our time. There are vineyards all around this area to.

I don’t think you need Margaritaville points or VIP to stay at the Rio Grande I booked it just fine with a resale account.

I thought you needed to be VIP to book the Margaritaville side of Rio Grande but I could be wrong. I am fairly new to this but learning all the time thanks to TUG! Just wish I had found it before our developer purchase. Oh well, live and learn! The next purchase will be resale. But for now I am learning how to get every drop out of our temporary VIP status.

Hope Puerto Rico is back to semi-normal by the time of your trip. For your sake and the island.

Same here. I was supposed to be in Sonoma this week and PR in January. I booked southern California for January instead. I hope that I don't inflict a natural disaster there too.
