Wyndham Rewards Diamond status

I have the Citi Cashback card. It’s 2% back on every dollar spent (1% on the purchase + 1% on the payment). We use it for everything except monthly bills. We kept the WR card just to keep some credit in my wife’s name. We get enough points on it for a few free hotel nights each year. Otherwise, you’re right, it isn’t a good value.

I have the WR card (the free one) but I only use it for the 6 months no interest on Wyndham purchases. Last time I did get the 3x points but this time it was only the 1x. I don't use my points for US stays but I will totally use them when we go abroad.

We use the Chase Sapphire card. We each have our own account because we want the independent priority lounge access at the airports. I even had to put one of my kids as authorized user so that he can get into the lounges just in case I have to send some people ahead of me on flights, which happens occasionally.

Since you get 3% back in points on travel, MF are actually counting as travel. And then if were so inclined (which I am not) I could get a 25% bonus on those points if I booked travel through them (meaning airfare and hotels.) Since I don't book either, we will just do the statement credit.

If you do attend the update, let us know what happens. I too have frozen my credit reports.

We used to have the WR card that we used for everything and then used the points to pay our mf’s. However, a couple of years ago they reduced the value from $60/10,000 points to $50/10,000. I searched around and found a cashback card that works better for us. My wife kept her WR card and we use it to pay our regular monthly bills and we then use those points for hotel stays when a TS isn’t available.
I also just took advantage of the chase ink offer of 80,000 bonus point on the initial 5k spend. Points are worth 25% more when booking airfare. You can also transfer points at no cost 1:1 ratio into southwest or united

We rarely fly and I hate changing credit cards. I wanted something simple with no annual fees. That’s why I went with the Citi Cashback card. I deposit the cashback each month into a holiday club account and we use that money each year for a December vacation. It works great for us. Obviously, there are better options for people who fly often or can justify the more complicated cashback options that vary by what/where you use it.

We use the Capital One Savor Mastercard, the Costco Citi VISA, and the Amazon (Chase) VISA:

1) The Savor card pays a 4% rebate on all dining out, including fast foods, and 2% at grocery stores. Since our kids are grown, we eat out a lot.
2) The Costco VISA pays a 4% rebate on gasoline (not just at Costco... almost everywhere but you must pay at the pump), 3% on airfare/hotels/rental cars, and 2% on everything at Costco.
3) The Amazon VISA pays a 5% rebate on everything at Amazon (must have Prime).

I plan to get the WR card to pay maintenance fees. Should generate sufficient points for 2-3 free hotel nights/year.

Attached is a photo of what was presented to me at bonnet creek
It confirms much of this thread

The Costco Visa is tough to beat! Especially for a no annual fee card!!

I agree. We used it almost exclusively until Capital One offered us a $500 bonus to take the Savor card. The additional 1% rebate on dining out (Costco is 3%) more than pays for the Savor’s annual fee. It also pays 1% more at the grocery store.

One of the benefits to having the Wyndham Rewards Diamond (or Platinum) level is that you can status match to the Caesars rewards program which will get you free parking at any of the Caesars casinos including the Vegas Strip & Atlantic City. A valuable perk if you are staying at either of the Wyndham locations in Vegas, or Wyndham Atlantic City. They also offer a free stay at Atlantis in the Bahamas as a perk (though I don't know all of the details or hoops you have to jump through to claim that free trip.)

Can someone explain this status match to me? I've had a free Wyndham Rewards account for a few years and about a year ago, I accepted a fee based Wyndham Rewards Credit Card. That card gave me Platinum status. I currently have quite a few points in that account. I know how to use them within the Wyndham system, but I don't grasp the concept of a status match. I mean I guess that I would also be Caesar's Platinum, but I'm just unsure.

I assume I would have to open a Caesar's Account,. Would I have to transfer any Wyndham Rewards points to Caesars to get their rewards?

No. You just need to prove you have platinum status with Wyndham Rewards. You have to provide your Wyndham rewards number. There is the option to transfer points if you want to, but it’s not required.

Specific to Ceasars Rewards - you have to be at least Platinum level at Ceasars for this to work. This requirement is embedded in the T&Cs. For example, I had no Ceasars Rewards account and signed up for an online account yesterday and tried the status match. You start out at Gold level in Ceasars status until you earn 5000 points. I’m a Diamond WR member. I received the following response in red letters when I attempted to status match:

This was an extremely useful thread. I just did the Diamond upgrade on Wyndham rewards. Painless. Will I ever get much benefit from this? Maybe, maybe not. I still like the card for hotel stays and for collecting points from Owner Updates. Free nights at more expensive hotels is a very nice reward.

For the record and to follow on other comments, my go to card is the 2% cash back Mastercard. And, the Costco Card for Gas and Dining. I play the cash back quarterly game, also, and use the Discover and Chase Visa when the categories are paying 5%. I'm a Delta person, so the Delta card is in use from time to time. My wife won't play the rebate game, using only the MasterCard. I'm cool with that.............

Also, I'll drive 3 to 4 hours to fly out of BWI on longer trips (9+ days), as the savings are well worth the drive.

Question:
How do I get Wyndham Rewards to accept and update my Club Wyndham membership?

It looks as though you were trying to match on the WR website. Try matching on the Caesar's Rewards website (it should look like Richelle's post above) and this should go through and match your status with Wyndham without having existing Caesar's points or status.

Actually gold works to. I just did the wyndham rewards upgrade to diamond status, then I went to the caesers site and upgraded my gold status to diamond. Worked like a charm. Not sure how useful, since I don't gamble, but it should get me some decent offers from Caesers.

Make sure you include the zeros at the beginning of your membership number. If you don’t, it will give you an error.

You’re right! Oddly enough it took the same match within the Ceasars system, though it did say it may take up to seven days for the Diamond level to appear within the Total Rewards Ceasars system.

Log in to myclubwyndham.com and then go to Benefits and then Deals and Offers. If you are VIP and scroll down the list of offers there will be two listed under Wyndham Rewards and one of them will be to reach Diamond Status. If you click on it there will be another page with a link to match your status.

Thanks,
That was what I was seeking
Next step... Update Caesar Rewards

How do you get Wyndham Rewards points for attending an owner update? Thought maybe thats what we attended in Hawaii but maybe not, never a memtion of getting any Rewards Points. We were required to go since we got a discount on our helicopter tour, or we wouldn't receive the discount, so maybe it was not an owner update.

There are usually multiple options for attending an update. Sometimes is discounted attractions, so it likely was an update. If they tried to sell you more points, it was definitely an update. If getting Wyndham reward points was an option, they might have presented it to you unless you went straight for the discounted helicopter tour.

As Richelle said, each resort has certain incentives they push for updates. If the attendant is decent at their job, they will be asking questions about what you actually want to do while in the area, and then target the incentives they offer toward whatever activities you're actually interested in doing. When we were in the Poconos (Shawnee on Delaware) two weekends ago, this is what the lady we spoke to did. We ended up getting 30k WR points along with free tickets to local shows. In this case I had to ask for the WR points as she didn't offer them up initially, but I've not yet come across a resort that cannot give away WR points when asked.

For those who don't know, WR equates to about $5/1000 WR points. So if the resort typically gives a $75 gift card, that would equate to 15k WR points. $100 = 20k WR points. $150 = 30k WR points.
