I am new to Wyndham and understand that you can make a reservation 10 months in advance. Is it 10 months from the exact date of check-in? Do I need to be online at midnight in order to get what I want to book? Thanks for the advice!

I have found it to be check-in. I have never done the "at midnight" thing before, but if you do, report back!

It is 13 months in advance of check-in, not 10 months in advance. The popular resorts get jumped on at midnight Pacific Time. 10 months is for booking less than a minimum 7 nights during Red Season.

If the vacation you want is there the day before 10 months, you could probably wait until your lunch break 10 months in advance to book it -- and it is 10 months to the date; i.e., 10 months before April 1 of any year would be June 1 of the previous year, regardless of how February falls.

Mostly right, except it's 13 months in advance only for ARP (Advance Reservation Priority) bookings... which means you're making a reservation to vacation at your home resort if you have one or within the CWA inventory if you have CWA points. However, all regular inventory at all general Club Wyndham resorts is available to all regular Club Wyndham owners to make reservations at 10 months ahead of check-in.

My experiences in booking hard-to-get reservations (summer beach, etc.) are several years old. Things change. Sorry I can't help with timing suggestions. Would like to see what others have done more recently.

It's actually midnight Eastern time.

I would say this would not necessarily be true of high demand times/resorts. If you really want it, be on the site just before the release time.

It was slightly easier last year and this year with less travel overall and the changes to policy, but things seem to be tightening again for next year.

I was on at midnight last night EST for a high demand booking. I was grateful to get scraps. Usually, I don’t need to do that and can do it at my leisure during the day.

All depends on how badly you want it and how scarce it actually is. If you want to be sure be online at midnight ET. It is either EDT or EST depending where we are in the year, hence I put ET because it changes.

For the past 4 summers we've decided to book a 3 or 4BR unit to share with my in-laws for our main summer vacation. For that I've gotten on at 10 months at midnight, and still had to watch availability in the weeks leading up to it and have a little flexibility to make sure we had something that worked. For a 2BR or smaller at most locations on most dates, it usually doesn't require that level of precision. But for the big units at the beach in summer, it's like the time I bought Prince tickets.

Sometimes even the 2 bedrooms are tough, depending on the resort. ;)

I agree - for the larger units we book right at 10 months (or 11 months using our VIP RARP reservations using our developer points). We tend to pick shoulder seasons for our big family vacations which helps to avoid prime season booking issues. For example, we booked two weeks at TOTG in a three bedroom oceanfront unit in Myrtle Beach using VIP RARP 11 months in advance of the check-in date for late May into early June 2023.

Thanks all for the advice. I will be ready at midnight just in case!

The availability button doesn't always get pushed at midnight. Admittedly I am only usually am interested in a small subset of resorts, but for those availability often varies from a few minutes after until sometimes a few hours after midnight.

Just don't expect things to happen magically at midnight.
