I am a DVC owner, Marriott weeks owner, and Wyndham resale points owner. I have to say out of all our ownerships, Wyndham is the most flexible and easy to book for various locations around the country that we want to travel to.

I had thought about trimming our Wyndham points down from our current 281,000 points, but that amount works out great for us. I cannot force myself to trim them. We took 27 family members to Oahu back in December and I was able to book Wyndham Waikiki Beachwalk at the 10 month window easily. Also was able to use deposited Wyndham points within RCI to trade into Hilton’s Kalia Suites. We are going to Anaheim this fall and were able to book Dolphin’s Cove and Peacock Suites for that trip in October (trying to book Disney’s Grand Californian resort with DVC points would be next to impossible).

For all Wyndham’s faults, their family of resorts scattered around the country really is a huge plus to owning with Wyndham. I am actually seriously thinking about downsizing more DVC points and keeping my Wyndham points because of how flexible Wyndham is with all their locations.

I'm trying to figure out how you got lodging in Hawaii for 27 people with 281,000 points, even with some additional deposited points.

(Laughter) We traded our 2 bedroom lock off with Marriott into Marriott Koolina and used two years of Wyndham points booking direct and exchanging thru RCI. Used some DVC points to book Disney Aulani and my brother and sister own timeshares and traded their units, too, to help. It was a great trip. I was able to get 2 HGVC 1 bedrooms with my deposited Wyndham points thru RCI and a 2 bedroom at Wyndham Waikiki Beachwalk booked direct thru Wyndham.

I'm doing the opposite. I have my fingers crossed that DVC resale values finally tank from the recent change they did so I can FINALLY justify buying a contract to the 14 original properties. I've been watching prices for 5 years now. I haven't been able to justify those buy in costs BECAUSE I know Disney is going to try their best to tank the resale market to get access to lower priced ROFR contracts and get more people to buy direct. I have a strong feeling they are going to create a tiered system of membership extras (VIP) that only "qualified developer purchases" can have access to when they start selling Riviera. That, paired with the new changes to trading out at 7 months, will hopefully make resale purchases more affordable.

If you're going to downsize DVC, I would do it sooner rather than later. They look like they are really pushing people to only buy from the developer. They know they have to do something to make it so people have some sort of incentive to buy more than 75 developer points. My guess is that they're cooking up every legal thing they can to get people to buy direct.

Most would likely agree they like Wyndham product and flexibility. They just HATE sales.

WOW!!

I'm doing the opposite too. We love our DVC and never have issues booking or renting the points out.
But my Wyndham just sits there as every time I try to use it rooms are never available..... I have made some RCI trades that have been useful but now I'm looking at using Wyndham cares to get rid of our 154,000 UI points.

We just listed more DVC points for sale. At this point with all the recent DVC changes (sketchy 2020 point charts that were recently reversed and their new resorts following a traditional timeshare model), I feel more comfortable reducing my exposure to Disney and keeping my Wyndham points where they are. When I book internally within Wyndham’s system at 10 months out, I have always been able to book pretty much anything I need or want.

I actually just listed our Marriott for sale, too, because I feel like our Wyndham points and independent resort at Fairways of the Mountains, and a smaller amount of DVC points is all we need. Having access to Interval getaways and RCI extra vacations can fill in any gaps.

I would divest my HGVC and keep my Wyndham if I was going to sell something. There is a least some value in the HGVC.

I get way more use out of Wyndham because of the flexibility, number of locations, and my perks. And with my backdoor (now long closed) path to VIPP, it is way worth my while to keep Wyndham.

i have backdoor Elite through HGVC but the only perk I use is the 7 day Club season booking has NO reservation charge. That is about all I get out of my Elite.
