We have never been there and are looking for advice on which units we should request. We love beautiful Mountain views and a great deck. Husband is a golfer. Does the resort offer decent golf deals. Indoor pool for me? Would love to hear this to do in the area etc. May be there for 2 or 3 weeks.
Thanks for any info!

Scroll down for my opinion of Eagles Loft:

The furnishings were so-so, and some people don't prefer these, but the views from the LR, DR, MBR and deck were outstanding - the snow-dusted mountains over the lake. It was a stand-alone 3-story unit, 2-BR plus a loft, a hot-tub on the first floor. We were assigned this unit through RCI and I don't know that requests would have been honored.

We went in early June I think, and there was lots to do in the area for summer hikers. You can get a 1-week pass for the hot springs, which we did. I can't remember about indoor pools or golf, but there were lots of deals offered. We went to Chimney Rock National Monument, and a day at Great Sand Dunes National Park. We drove to Durango and Silverton (rather than taking the railroad) and did various hikes in the Pagosa Springs area. After Pagosa Springs, we went to Mesa Verde for a few days. We really enjoyed this trip.

There is an indoor pool at the rec center. Maybe an outdoor pool too. You'll have to call the resort about golfing deals - I'm sure there are different packages. The resort is in a beautiful location - surrounded by mountains. They offer hot air balloon rides at the resort and glider rides through the mountains not too far away. As for lodging, call the resort and ask. There are many associations there each with different buildings. Take bicycles if possible to get around. Durango is 60 miles away. You can catch an open air train in Durango which goes through the mountains to Silverton.

So would Pagosa Springs be cool in August? Trying to escape the August heat in Texas. Usually go to Ruidoso then. Wish Wyndham had a resort there!

Thanks very much for the information!

The weather is nice in the summer. You'll be in the mountains and it get cool at night. And you don't have the humidity like you do in Texas.

We have been to Pagosa Springs several times to ski at Wolf Creek Ski Resort. It is a beautiful area. There are several different HOA's there so accommodations can be different depending on which one you get. We have stayed in Eagles Loft, Teal Landing, Peregrine, and Ptarmigan. For our group, the Eagles Loft units are the best set up for us and they are near the lake and have a beautiful view of the mountains.

Visit www.wyndampagosa.net and you can view the floor plan and check in days for each type of unit. If you are trading in RCI, the check in date and occupancy will let you determine what HOA it will be in.

We would be going in with RCI. Which RCI will not tell you which units. Some I can get are Friday check ins and others are Sunday check ins. In doing some online research it appears RCI is not giving us Teal or Eagles loft. So, of the ones you have mentioned, which would you choose? We would like to be high with mountain views and feel like we are in the mountains.
thanks for any info;)!

The complex itself is pretty flat, I'm not sure that you'll get that high-up feeling in any of the sections. Also I'm not sure they'll give you other than your assigned unit when you are exchanging in, but maybe someone else can speak to that.

But it wasn't that difficult of a trade, we needed an exact check-in date to piggy-back with another exchange, and wanted a 2-BR for 3 adults tho could have used a 1-BR. There were 1-BR's available online, but I waited until I saw 2-BR's online and snagged one. I got ours at about 12 months out, and I waited this out for a full 10 months after my first exchange, because I was pretty confident. Hopefully there will still be deposits for this August, especially the second half. You might think about an ongoing request for Saturday check-ins.

Don't know if that helps - good luck!

Check on www.wyndhampagosa.net. There is information on each section & the checkin days. That may help you decide which unit you want. The website also includes floor plans of each type unit.
sorry--just noticed someone else posted this information. Moderator please remove this post.

Wyndham Pagosa would you choose Elk Run or Village point?

Wyndham Pagosa would you choose Elk Run or Village point? want to be up high on the deck looking at the Mountains. Looks like Elk Run is a Friday check in and Village point is a Sunday check in.

Thanks

Elk Run units are all oriented in the same direction, with very nice views of the nearby mountain range. They are also ALL "standard" 2BR units (6/4) so that may affect what is available to you through RCI.

Village Pointe contains lockoff units (8/6), is offered on 2 levels (1st or 2nd floor entry), and can be oriented in various directions (you may have a lake view, mountain view, or some other view). BTW, Ptarmigan units are also Sunday checkin, are also 2BR lockoff units, are 1 story units, and may also be a candidate for reservation through RCI.

In any event, if you call the resort about a week in advance of your reservation, you can make a location request that they will do their best to fulfill. I didn't catch when you were arriving, but as long as it's not a peak time, your chances are good for getting what you hope for.

We are considering going to Pagosa in early December with our daughter and her family. We have been there before, but it was in the summer. Can anyone comment on what to expect in December? There will be 4 adults, two little boys, 6 and 8, and my daughter is expecting a baby who would be about 6 months old then. I'm thinking the 2 bedroom with loft floorplan should work well. Does that sound right?
