I have just booked Wyndham Old Town Alexandria through Wyndham and want to be sure of two things. Is it fairly easy to drive to? Is it close to a metro? My sister and I want to take our two granddaughters and want to get around fairly easily and be safe.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes & yes.

Yep and they even have underground parking at the resort. The METRO station is caddy corner to the resort . . . and VERY convenient!

Spend some time in Alexandria!

While you are visiting, make sure to spend some time here in Alexandria -- George Washington's home town.

You can check out the historic sites, activities, restaurants and much more at http://visitalexandriava.com/. Every day, from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, a free trolley will take you from the King Street Metro to the Waterfront and back. You may get off along the way to explore the city, eat or window shop.

Many neighborhoods in Old Town (where you will be staying) are historic, with homes dating as far back as 250 years.

(Not a city employee, just a resident who loves living here. :cheer:)

Let me know if you have any questions.

(In regard to the parking, the access and egress are user friendly, but the garage itself is not. The spaces are very narrow and there is not much wiggle room to get in and out of them. Also, the garage is shared with the Hilton Hotel and you must make sure that you are parking in the right area.)

to keep your level of aggragavation at a minimum - do NOT arrive during week day rush hour (4 pm - 7 pm). That area is VERY congested (and confusing) at that time due to the Metro location and one way streets.

Metro will be easy and convenient for you.

I agree on the parking situation - it is very confusing which spots are whose -do NOT settle on the first Wyndham spot that you see - loop around on the lower levels and you will come to some "better" spots.

We are owners at FF Alexandria, and love it there. As Susan mentioned, be sure to save some time to spend in Alexandria. There are many wonderful restaurants within walking distance to the resort, and Alexandria is a charming city.
The parking garage is a little confusing, but just ask a staff member if you're not sure you're in a Wyndham spot. Then once you park the car, you probably won't need it again...take the Metro for trips into DC, and the trolleys to get around Alexandria.
Have fun, it's a great area!
