My wife is vacationing in PR for a Mother’s Day getaway with her friends at the Wyndham Grand Margaritaville in Rio Grande, PR.

Of course she’s sitting through an update and they’re telling her because Wyndham recently purchased Sports Illustrated in Jan 2024, starting June 1, 2024 we will no longer have access to use our points for stays at margaritaville resorts. I’ve been an owner since 2003 and we are silver VIP members. I’ve sat through so many of these updates and they always try to hustle you into buying more points. Often times with threats many of which aren’t actually truth. I’m so immune to it and just say no, give me my gift so I can go enjoy my vacation.

Is there ANY truth to what they’re saying now? Would appreciate any incites people have to offer. Thanks!

Unless I’m missing something, that doesn’t make any sense. SI has nothing to do with Margaritaville or Wyndham as far as I can tell. Meredith Corp. purchased SI last year. They own many magazines but I don’t see any affiliation with Wyndham, or Travel & Leisure, for that matter. It seems like I saw some posts here on TUG a few months ago about Wyndham owners losing the ability to book some Margaritaville locations unless they were also Margaritaville owners. I could be mistaken as my memory ain’t what it used to be.

I think Wyndham Margaritaville is still available to regular members, but Margaritaville owners have first crack at them.

This is all a bunch of baloney Wyndham is dishing out to get owners to buy more points. I am sure these resorts are very nice. Never have stayed in any of them, actually. I need to do that at some point.

Yeah, I don’t understand it either. I was not there to attend the update so we shall see what the future truly holds. I do love the Rio Mar Margaritaville resort plus it’s the only Wyndham Grand in PR. Since we have family on the island we love staying there.
