We just got back from a Colorado vacation that included 3 nights at Wyndham Durango and 4 at Pagosa Springs. We thoroughly enjoyed both. The Wyndam in Durango is in an ideal location....walking distance to everything...and the staff is the best we've encountered in a Wyndham property. And no sales on site !
We stayed in Teal Landing at Pagosa and the unit was very spacious and the setting beautiful. I'll post full reviews of both resorts soon, but feel free to contact me if you have questions about either. Lots to do in the area...highlights were the Durango to Silverton railroad and Great Sand Dunes National Park. A great trip!

We are planning a trip to Durango in June. Will stay at Hilton Homewood suites in Durango. How far is Great Sand Dunes from Durango? Did you go to Mesa Verde?

We've been to Wyndham Durango many times. It's a very nice boutique type resort. Fall is beautiful when the Aspen begin to change, usually around the first part of October.

Great Sand Dunes is about 170 miles; Mesa Verde is a little less than 40, but I think that is to the bottom of the hill. (when you go, you'll understand!). The nearby town of Cortez, CO is also worth a stop for authentic Indian crafts.

We have not been to Great Sand Dunes, but here's the National Park Service page: www.nps.gov/grsa

We have been to Mesa Verde years ago, and we liked it so much last summer we thought about adding a 4 hour drive from our No. AZ location to see it again. Really special place -- one of my favorite National Parks. Here's the NPS page: www.nps.gov/meve

Great Sand Dunes was a little over 2 hours from Pagosa, so that would make it a little over 3 from Durango. We got up early and spent the day there, it was well worth the drive! We didn't go to Mesa Verde because we had been there several years ago, but it is a definite " must see". We loved Durango...its very pretty...lots of nice shops and restaurants too. We actually stayed 1 night at the Homewood Suites before we flew home...very nice, newer hotel with an excellent staff. Have a great time!

They are just getting ready to renovate all the rooms with new furniture, paint, wallpaper, etc. Should be even nicer when done! We really liked it there, would definitely go back. And yes, the aspens were gorgeous!
